You might be hard pressed to fit an 11" wheel in the back w/o cutting... I know a 10" would fit perfectly but an 11" might not fit in a still look like it was made to be there..
I've got a 67 Fastback that I'm going to put some boyd junkyard dogs on and plan to go 17x8 in the front w/ 235/45/17s and 18x9 in the back with 275/35/18s. For my car this would appear to fit perfectly....

I have a Comet & I have a 18x10 with a 295/35 & it fits perfect but I had to mini tube the car. But I do have enough room for an 11.

I know one individual, who knows his stuff, who said he would not recommend anyone else put 9s on the front like he did.
You'll probably have problems with the 11s in the rears. I've seen 10s with 295s and 6.35 BS. It looked fantastic but the inner fenderwell had to be "shaped" with a hammer and the outer lip had to be rolled.
If you could back it down one inch all the way around you might save yourself a lot of problems when trying to lower it to get the stance just right.
Hey, but if you decide to push the envelope and prove me wrong, be sure to show us all some pix.

Would a 11 inch wheel fit on a 73 mustang?

I can't say for sure, but have noticed the 71-73s have slightly more room. I believe that an 11 will most likely fit with a 295 or even a 305.
Hopefully someone who has actually tried it will chime in.
