Thanks for getting it up so fast Larry, Bob is like family here and I knew several wanted to know as soon as we knew. I called you while people were still clapping so I bet protouring got the news out first!
I can not explain how cool it was to see Bob finally win this award. He no doubt, not only had the coolest street machine here, or on the planet at the moment, but I am willing to bet, if you added all the miles collectively put on the other 4 contestants, the cuda has that number covered or doubled. It is so cool to see a true steet car win, when I know it was on the power tour and as late as two weeks ago, autocrossing at Nashville Goodguys. Here is a picture of the money shot. I will post more later tonight, but for now....
Congradulations Bobby!
Damn, I carried you all weekend, can I take a break now?????

It was the black 37/38 chevy with a C-5 set up. The tag said 37 C5. I have some good pictures of it I took yesterday we will post up as soon as we get them downloaded.
It was a very nice ride. In fact Alan told me to check it out yesterday, he liked it too.

The really cool part is that he ran the SMOTY through an autocross course, most guys wont even do that with their p/t cars.

Congratulations, it really is a great car. Also, Chris Ito (spelling?), gets credit for a great concept.

Bob's car was the only real contender for SMOTY. I know he has heard it before, but he had this one in the bag before the show even started.

All the cars in the final 5 were beautiful, but I cannot help bus ask, whats up with all the shoe boxes? There were three of them up there and one, if I am not mistaken, has been on the circuit for about 8 years. I saw some killer street machines that, IMO, fit the criteria much better.

Did anyone see that black, early Vett??? It was a killer car. Of course the Chevell deserved a spot. Anyway... I digress.

Congrats Bob. You are the man.

Does anyone have any pic's of the Chevelle?? What year?? As we have debated before in this forum, this award does not necessarily go to a typical "street machine" (definitions differ). All of those cars are beautiful, but the ones that are in the pic's above (Tri-5's) are all custom rods, ie, I believe they are shooting for the Custom Rod of the Year also. Anyway, the best all around car (IMHO) won the award this year, now I want to see Bob further drive the p*$$ out of that thing! Bob, any chances we will see you at Bonneville this year or next???

The 57 was at SEMA on display about 5-6 years ago, and from what I saw of it, it was the same car that was debuted back then. The black Vette definitely deserved that spot.

I agree. The Vette was a much cooler car, IMO.

Also, if it were not for Bob's Cuda, it would have been a black and silver love fest. Arn't people getting a bit tired of the "non" color thing. At least over on the rod side there was a bit of red showing.

The world need more color!!!

Maybe a yellow car (SN65) would have been nice, just for a little contrast. :lmao:

I must apologize for being remiss and not responding sooner. I thought I had posted my gratitude earlier, but obviously I hadn't. Alan/Crew and I want to thank all of our supporters and sponsors who have followed this car and continue to praise our efforts. It is very gratifying to see car people look at the Cuda in amazement and want to come over and shake your hand for creating this masterpiece. Everytime I look at it, I just can't believe how well it turned out. Alan/Crew/Chris Itoh/and all our sponsors should be proud of their accomplishment. I cannot tell you how satisfying it is to have some of the top builders and other very knowledgeable car guys look at the Cuda and tell you it's the best all around car they've ever seen. Unfortunately for Alan, he saddled up with me several years ago and I felt I owed it to him to give him the opportunity to show the car world what his capabilities were. I don't have the financial resources that say George Poteet, George Lange, Ron Pratt, Fred Warren,Eric Zausner, John Mumford etc.etc. This has not allowed Alan the freedom of showing his skills..He has a new guy name Doug Cooper as a customer now. Doug has my old Battle Axe, Alan's 32 3 W SB2 powered coupe, The 33 Roadster of Alan's that won street Rod of the year in 97, and several other nice pieces. Alan is currently building him a 32 B400 Ford and has plans for a 69 Camaro that promises to knock my Cuda off the King of the Hill. Alan is a young energetic man that will be showing the Street Rod/Machine world some innovative new machines in the future..Stay tuned...

I think you could of fooled all of us on that one! The only thing that matters is the Cuda, you do have the baddest car on the plant, IMHO & others! Also, isn't this a great hobby that we are in, when you have people like yourself, Alan, Tracy Weaver, Craig Morrison, etc., that post on a daily basis and keep us up to date on everything going on in the hobby today! I am trying to get out to the Pigeon Forge event, if only to have a few beers with all the good people in this hobby! Keep pushing the bar, whats next, 1912 Widget, 0-200-0 contender, LOL! Same way Cobras and mid year corvette K/O wheels and Dayton K/O Wire wheels are done...bolt an adaptor up to the 5 lugs..the adaptor has a threaded spline that goes through the center of the wheel..spin the knock off on the spline and beat the ever loving **** out of the knock off with a lead hammer or some other material that won't scar up the knock-off..safety wire it if you're smart.

It is because the Nova was on the 2005 event shirts for the Lonestar event. Goodguys doesn't like to repeat cars on event shirts.

Last night I noticed one of my old GG Columbus shirts, it also didn't have the previous years SMOY winner on it. I think it was 2004, the year the Rydell car one. The other car was a '50 Merc, or something similar.
