Every month I read article after articel about cool cars of all different kinds and styles. Most articles are several pages long and talk about some very minute details.
But.....why is it that things like the vehicles interior/trunk and or stereo are always wrapped up in usually one small paragraph. No matter what the size of the feature it's almost always all wrapped up in just a few short words.
As one who makes his living building custom cars but focus's more on the interior / stereo side of the business it has always baffled me why the media focus's so little on these items. This website as well as many others are the same way.
When people built your projects, what are the reasons for building or not building up your interior ? Call it curiosity or market research. If you don't build your interior, what are the reasons for leaving it stock ?
Just looking for some inight into what car builders think.
Thanks

Ive often wondered this myself. I think the problem is magazine editors don't think the readers care. It's too bad this info gets a quick shout, and glossed over, the interior is where most of your time is spent. I'd love to know more about interiors, how gauges are run and fit, and all the little touches people put into the inside of peoples rides. Details. It's all about the details.

cars are made to be driven!!! not to lounge in. also this site is more performace orentiented, so that is the focus.
i like a nice interior but it is usualy last on the list of things to do. it is also EXPENSIVE and offers no performace gain.

Wrong! Interior can offer performance gains. With the right seat the driver can actuly drive the car, instead of sliding around hanging on for life. I went from a bench seat to a good corbeau seat and my car is waaayyyyyy more fun to drive as a whole. No more sliding around for me.

I was just about to say that the steering wheel is not for keeping your butt in the seat.
Try doing a turn at over 60 and see how well you stay put in your seat with stock camaro seats and a lap belt.

Space is a big issue with most mags. I think they try to give the most details on what they think the general readership is most interested in. The mag people are out to please and I'm sure they would welcome any feedback concerning what you would like to read more about.

I think the readers as a majority would like to see the whole car in a feature, however there are priorities the mag has to adhere to. Can they get the complete coverage with every single detail of a vehicle and get three other cars in, an event, or a couple of tech articles? If they did, it would probably a bi-monthly pub and cost more. I like interiors but would rather see more cars at the expense of a detailed paragraph or two about the Corbeaus and Sony stuff. Wow, a trunk full of speakers! I can live with a quick overview and a small picture. I think there should be more Build Books like the one from Sickfish. It has three times as many pages as a mag and they're all devoted to the comedian guy's car he had Trepanier do, I still think there isn't enough coverage of that car. Interior guys shouldn't get butt hurt just like a tire store employee shouldn't if there are no tire size specs in the article. No offense intended.
