Hey guys,

Steevo and myself are planning on holding a small local gathering and cruise for the Long Island members of pro-touring.com. Anyone is invited, but since it will only be a small get together, we don't expect any out-of-staters to travel, but you certainly would be welcomed at the event.

I haven't sorted all of the details out yet, I did however want to gauge interest. Who would be likely to attend? The date would be either Saturday July 15th or Sunday July 16th. Please post what date would work best for you. We would likely meet somewhere in Suffolk County (possibly in Port Jefferson where we met up and cruised last year--great roads) and head out for a cruise and then some lunch.

I'll start a list of those I know will be attending:

1). Ralph
2). Brian (RedlineBrian)
3). Jim
4). Dirk (tentative)
5). Steevo
6). Mike
7).

I'll be at G-G Columbus.

Should we hold it the following week? That would give me more time to get things done, so it doesn't matter much to me.

Jim, I added you to the list.

If you move it after GG columbus, Ron and Doug Cooper would probably come.

Not unless you call the George Washington Bridge and the LIE "smooth." :hammer: I had a blast last year, and would definitely drive over again. Let me know what date you decide and I'll let ya know if I'm in.

Set your shocks on KILL before you cross into NY, then drive very carefully thru the Brooklyn section. Once you cross into the Queens section and onto Long Island, the roads are fine.

Events are casual. It's just a get together. Meet up, hang out, drive on back roads and eat. We'll park you next to the Battle Axe. That should be a fun comparison. Come out on Saturday or Friday night and crash at my place. We'll do the drive on Sunday.

Larry,
You can stay at my place as well. Check Southwest flights into airport code ISP or JetBlue flights into Kennedy. I'll pick you up.

Ralph, we have to MEET before we can CRUISE.

LOL, I know that, but Whiskey road is all the way east. I don't at all mind cruising down to OBI and then back out east to whiskey, maybe we can pick up 25A at some point to make the cruise out there a bit more interesting. At the last cruise we met up in Port Jeff right by the Ferry at around 10AM, it was a nice meeting spot, but unfortunately at this time of the year, it would never work. The lot would be packed, so OBI would be a good alternative.

Ralph,
If it helps, we can meet later.

It's cool. If 7:30 works best for everyone, I'll make it out there at that time. My only suggestion would be to meet down the road a bit at captree so that we can ensure everyone gets a spot for when we meet.

I'm sure we'll ALL get a spot at 10AM, but then we won't get to share in the local festivities.

But you're right. South shore to North shore might be a hassle. Sounds like it's time to pick a leader (not me--I took us off-roading last time.:bicycle: )

Haha, my exhaust is still bent! But I am now tempted to come join you guys!

Dirk, how long a drive is it for you? I will probably add on another 2 hours from that. But I think the Camaro can handle that. Well, it better!

Mike planned out the gathering point and lead the cruise last time and did a damn fine job. He had us on some really nice roads for PT cars (most of the local bikers ride 'em). I'd be content with following the same route as last year. I'll give Mike a call this weekend and see if he wants to join us for the cruise.

Times have changed. Port Jeff is frowning on all the local cruise activity. They moved the bike parking to an out of the way spot and turned the old bike parking into handicap spots. So it might be difficult to convene in Port Jeff.

I know Whiskey Road quite well. :naughty:

Just caught this post.

I'm down with this - We'll hit Whiskey, Red Creek, Manor - hell there's a bunch good roads out there. Best bet is leave from Port Jefferson - same place as last time.

Steve - if we meet in the lot across the street by the Steam Room early we'll have no problems.

I hit all these roads last week by bike and had a blast - they just repaved Manor road as well so it's AWESOME. Members coming from CT or upstate NY can take the Port Jefferson Ferry over.

Everyone has to decide on one thing though... do you want to cruise... or do you want to CRUISE (BE HONEST). I say this because if we're just out to put around and look cool then we can leave at say 9am, take some roads and head to Sag Harbor for lunch - the Sag Harbor PD will crap when they see a bunch of PT cars roll in. We can make a full day of it.

If you want to CRUISE then we leave by 6:30am... this would mean people possibly come the night before or get up early. We hit the back roads BEFORE all the normal people get out of bed - still head to Sag Harbor and then have a relaxed ride home. No street racing mind you, but a nice spirited back road cruise.

I don't really know how everyone on this forum drives, but I can tell you I WILL do some spirited driving if the roads permit (members on the previous cruise know what I mean), that is why my car was built the way it was, but only early when the roads are empty.

Either way I will rock and roll with this. Just let me know how ya'll want to go forward. My phone # is 516-382-4131.

I look forward to this.

Mike

I'm up for either one. Especially since I live out east and hit those roads all the time. They did an awesome job of resurfacing that road (I thought it was Mill road?) But I can see how people might be turned off at the 6:30 thing, so if the gang wants to hook up later--I'm good.

Considering I was the one in your rear view last time, you know how I drive, LOL. The last cruise was LOTS of fun. I'd be up for either cruise though, real fast or just cruise. If it's the real fast one, I'm going to need about 4 24oz coffees on the drive in though, haha.

I think so. I am in for sure now. But can we have two meeting times maybe? I know you guys want to me at like 7...but with such a long drive, can we have a second meeting time a bit later?

If not, I will be there either way.

I don't see why not - the main question still remains though, who wants a nice SPIRITED cruise and who wants standard putt putt cruise... that will most likely determine the meeting times.

I am attempting to diagnose a sporadic ignition issue (sound familiar?), but I am trying to make it.

As far as the pace of the ride, the tighter the road the more aggressive I will be. In other words, sideways down an exit ramp is safer than 120 down a two lane road. I was arrested for reckless driving in long island, once was enough.

Either way, plan what you guys want and I will try and join in at some point, maybe hectic early runs followed by mellower afternoon.

Damn , if my car is still dead I may fire up the gsxr, then all bets are off.

I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to make it, which is pretty bad since this whole thing was my idea. :banghead: The inspection is up on the Camaro and I'm not sure I'll be able to get everything sorted out and have it inspected before the 16th (most likely not). (It's not just a regular inspection, the car won't pass as is, I have to install new headers and a Y-pipe and send the computer out to be tuned (remove the rear '02 sensors) in order to pass. SES light is on because of the 02s as of now.
