On an X11 coded car there is no definite way to know for sure unless you have the build sheet. Of course you can look for signs that it may be and SS such as... Is it equipped with front disc brakes, 12 bolt rear end, prop valve mounted on driver side of sub frame, etc

its has the ss350 emblems on the side and a 12bolt, but it doesn't have disc brakes.

that ones really a toss up. The interior was green once, so was the car. So someone changed a lot. The missing SS steering wheel is a clue

How many leafs are in the rear springs? 5?

by the looks of the car the other owner raced it and thats why it has SS emblems on the sides and a 12 bolt.
but with that grill emblem and the bow tie on the back i would say its a 327 car
and the X11 could only mean that it had a small block like the 307, 327 or 350
good luck on finding out.

oh. and the engine code off of the block would be good.

thanks guys for your help, I will have to check about the leaf springs. The previous owner said he bought it from the USA in 93 and it was red with black interior.:hammer:

I bought the car without the engine and the tranny

I think one of the sure ways to tell it is an SS (or isn;t, I suppose is more accurate) is if the mounting holes for true dual exhaust tailpipes are present.

also had a return fuel line from the factory, so you may want to check and see if someone removed it. Drop the tank and see if there is a place for one on the sending unit. There is also a braket in the back from the facory for the return line.

I am guessing it is not an SS car. Mine is an x-11 car from Norwood as well. Style trim coupe with a 327/glide combo. All v8 cars in 69 had the multileaf rear.

if it was a drag car at one time it could have had the discs swapped out for drums, common to do at the time for reduced drag.
