Has anyone put in late model GTO seats in a First Gen Camaro? If so will you please post pictures! Also, how had is it to adapt the back seat to fit, and the front seats too? Thanks!

I know, because they are GTO seats! :twothumbs I'd plan on recovering them for the most part anyways to match my interior.

I know this wasn't exactly what you are looking for, but these are what they look like in the inital fit of my 1967 Nova.

I got the seats off Ebay out of a 2006 GTO with 100 miles on it.
The seats are perfectly new. Not even butt creases in the driver seat yet. $1200 shipped.

The fronts fit real nice. We just had to make some brackets to level off the seats.

The rear seat foam had to be shaved about 10 inches in order to tuck into place, as well as some fiber glass armrests fabricated on the outside of the rear seats, as they were about 6 inches too narrow in the back seat. I don't have back seat pictures yet. All the seats are getting re-apolstered in leather.

Hope this helps.

Jason, did you find that the seats are higher than stock?

The front seats were right in line with the stock bench. I was looking for seats that would have minimal impact on the non post flow of the interior. As you can see in the 3rd shot, they barely come up over the lower window line.

Now as far as the backs go, the back foam where the headrest would be, had to be shaved about 10 inches to get it to tuck up to the rear tray. Not a big deal just a THING. It altered the proportions of the rear seat only slightly as they were tall to begin with. The rears now have the same proportions as the front. The rears were also narrower than stock so we buiilt some armsrests to make up the difference. The center console goes from the dash to the truck, kind of like a spine so there is a few inches between the rear seats. This too helped close the gap.

Also, thanks again for the magazines. They are really great. Bathroom time is much improved!

Very nice work....those will look excellent in the first gen Camaros as they are about the same height above the door sill.

NO, thank you. The second batch is on it's way. Those seats would also look nice in a Chevelle..:smoke:

Do you mean a 1970 Chevelle SS with a 540 bigblock? I bet they would really look nice in something like that.

I can't wait for shipment #2.

Thanks,

Jason

You are correct. The seats were said to be too wide. Here is a link http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=46995&highlight=gto%2A (http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=46995&highlight=gto%2AThe)

You know, it never would have occurred to me that a 67-69 Camaro is smaller on the inside than a 67 Nova. I would have lost money on that bet: that you couldn't fit both the front AND rear seats in there just like we did on the Nova. The front seat actuators work great and they sit very low as seen in the pictures.

Oh well, since everyone will not be using them, they will be unique in my car. I guess that is a good thing.

I have 04 gto seats in my 69 an d they seem to fit fine. I do not know what is meant in the other post as too wide. I will span some pics the next time I put the seats in, but there seems to be plenty of room between the door and the edge of the seat.

I do have to modify the rear to work. I would be great to see some pics of how they have been reworked to fit.

How did you make the armrests?

Please post some pics. I was really wanting to install a set in my car. Also how did you mount them and what are you using for seat belts?

I dont have any pictures of the armrests, but I can describe them to you.

Using particle board we made a frame, mounting it to the side of the interior just below the rear window, covered it with thick fiberglass and covered that with leather.

Can you stand on it, no. Can you lean on it and support your elbow, yes. And since the back seats are reasonably notional in a Nova, its not like there is going to be a 300lb linebacker back there anyways.

Since the center console extends to right between the rear seats like a taperred spine, we moved the rear seats apart about 2-3 inches and still real close to center of the front seats. Didn't want the fronts and rears staggered.

I have absolutly no idea what we are going to do about set belts since the car is not caged. I will have to resort to lap belts for now until a better remedy is engineered or recommended.

Has anyone taken any pictures of there 69 camaro with these GTO seats yet? I would love to see them and am still waiting in suspense. I hope that you can make them work cause from reading the other posts it doesn't seem like it.

Looks great, but man those seats look like a tight fit. Will you be able to opreate the controls on the side of the drivers seat once the door is shut? Also what are you doing for seat belts?

FJB2069

IN the picture the switch panel is detached from the seat and laying on the rocker. With normal sized door panels I see no clearace issues.

Seat belts, I am not sure yet. I have teh GTO belts but they were designed to go into the b post of the GTO and it may be hard to adpat. THere are several after market belt products that can be made to work easier, or put in a roll bar and use harnesses!
