used to be a bodybuilder, ive always lifted but been off track the past couple of years, finally getting diet and training back in order. its definately cutting into the car building time though. thats what ive been up to lately.
I run or bike every day or every other day and lift 3-4 days a week. Not a bodybuilder by any stretch! I just do enough to mantain my girlish figure! I love to eat and I would be a butterball in a month if I didn't excersize! Generally run 4-6 miles. Bench max 2 weeks ago-314 lbs.
Speaking of lifting, has anyone seen American Chopper when Paul is working out? He was working out with 405 lbs! Dat's a big boy!

Hey Indy,
Just a bodybuilder here. Doing it since i was 20 and has made a big difference. I always had my family asking me to help move things and do this, do that. So my reply was like a show car.

Gym Rat.... I was on a training schedule of 6 days a week with 1 hour cardio, 2 hours of weight training. Had a sick no fat, low carb, no dairy, high protein diet to go along with it. It was a bitch to stick with for a while but your body adjusts to it and man did I get cut!! Could only diet that way for three months at a time though since it would seriously tax my body. Unfortunately, my love of Hockey got the best of me and due to a cheap shot to the back of my shoulder, Im looking at two major labral tears in my shoulder that need surgery in Sept. Bad news is Ill be out of the Gym for three to six months. GOOD NEWS is it will be a full recovery and Ill be able to eat whatever I want!!
Just curious at what people out there have done for weight(naturally not chemically)
Im 5'11'' and at 202 managed to bench 395

Lots of protein. I finally sat down after about 8 years of solid training and calculated my protein intake at under 100 grams a day. I eat like a bird.
I started eating 2-3 can-o-tuna's a day along with meal shakes. Upwards of 300+ grams/day. I gained around 15-20 lbs. solid mass in about 4 months. (Thats about all I could stand to do)I still have to mantain my intake or I'm back to 165.
I hit the gym everyday.

I use to workout 5 to 6 days a week. Went from 123 pounds out of high school to 175 while I was lifting. I started building cars, and haven't been in a gym in a few years. Now I mainly workout 12oz at time.

I have the same body type as you. Its called Ectomorphic. I was very skinny growing up and could never gain weight. So I did some research about 2 years ago and found out the only way I would gain weight is if I ate over 5,000 calories a day and worked out. Obviously proper diet was a must. While I was researching I found a black guy that gained 30lb in 3 months. That inspired me and I vowed to gain as much muslce in 3 months just like that guy did. So I paid for a 3 month membership at the gym and worked out with my bodybuilding friend.
Now for the awesome part. I trained and worked my butt off in the gym, ate 7-8 meals a day, lots of money and commitment, and 3 months later I was 26# heavier. One of the proudest moments of my life. The best part was that I kept my 6 pack abs the entire time. I am still small but no where near the twig size I used to be. It is very hard for me to keep the weight on. Here is a pic of what I look like now.

Been there done that. Competed in bodybuilding contests. Got married had 3 kids and working 2 jobs. No more bodybuilding. My weight as of now 230 when i competed 187. Bench press max ever 325 for 1. Even though I am not currently lifting i still take a protein shake every day to keep a positive nitrogen balance in my system for when I do start again. Maybe august/september and compete late april. Chris

4 days a week here. 5-9 200 lbs. I work out with some pretty serious power lifters, although, I don't really consider myself a power lifter. At 45 the joints really hurt after super heavy lifting so I'm not as hardcore. Being the Five-O for 21 years, being strong has saved my bacon a few times. I try to keep the fat intake to a minimum and get plenty of protein. A protein shake before bed and one first thing after you wake up works awsome if you haven't tried it.

Not that any of ya'll do this but nothing kills me more than seeing these guys at the gym that are all jacked up top and have little bird legs. Don't neglect your legs and trunk.
The guys I workout with have made me puke more than once on leg day..........Awesome

I do a mix of bodybuilding and powerlifting. Im about 185lbs and my big three so far are 315 bench, 435 deadlift, 315 squat. Not anything to brag about, but im working on it. Probably not gonna be able to work out as much now that I have my project car....

I used to be a gym troll back in the day till I blew out my shoulder. I was 5'10" and 198lbs benched 375, curled 195. Ran 4 miles every morning.
Now im 5'9" 175, can barely get my axe out of bed, get out of breath walking to the car and my sixpack is slowly turning into a mini keg. hummmm beer.

That's big(or small) done here in FL. It's the beach workout. All Bi's and Pec's:cool: :bsjerk: I does look funny when a guy has an upperbody just short of Arnold and his legs are the size they were in 5th grade.
On the flip side, how about the bodybuilding women? Not the fitness chicks, the Sheera's.

Breakdancing? Is that the male version of Carmen Electra's lapdance workout?
I tried spinning and damn near passed out. I think I lost about 10lbs in sweat in under an hour. It's a kick azz cardio workout though.
im not very powerfull but my body has good endurance muscles... I used to compete in cross country skiing and running, as well as some rowing. I used to do a typical 5k ski race in 10 mins or less. I had a resting heart beat of 43 beats per minute and was able to hold my breath for over 2 mins. I would love to get back into it and do some biatholones (sking with shooting). Now i run 2 miles twice a week. I'd like to start lifting but its hard for me to get big, and i refuse to take any suplement other then protien.

I guess you could call me a bit of a gym rat. I try to get in for 6 - 8 hours a week. A half hour cardio followed by an hour and a half of weights and a bit of stretching. Being on the wrong side of 50 for this stuff I probably don't push myself as hard as some of you youngsters, and I certainly don't lift as much weight.
I do it mostly to keep the waist line under control and the heart healthy but it also seems to make most of life's other chores easier to handle.
"Bird Legs" :lmao: Yeah, I've seen a few of those guys around. They really need a full length mirror. Ironically I may very well be the opposite, probably due to the cardio work.

good to hear it, ive neglected the car for a while but im finally on a comeback and cant get enough of the gym so im going with it. 5 years ago i was 215 6 1/2% bf in a water test and 7 weeks out from first show, was going to come in @ 198, then i tore my shoulder apart, id been training for 8 years and eating perfect for 4 at that point (i lived it completely) i was basically done lifting for about 2 years. i got discouraged often over the last couple of years but im finally healed back up and the size is coming back very well but strength isnt there yet. i probably go a little overboard with my training but its the only way i can get and keep abs, running dont do it for me. im just pumped that i can finally bench again without pain, just wanted to share it.

I was pretty good about going to the gym up until about 10 years ago. Having kids and working on a house and building a Camaro and working a full time job have made it impossible to get back. I've really packed on the pounds too since then. I gotta get back. Somehow I just gotta find a way.
You guys are making me want to try again...sigh.
I kept wondering why I wasn't gaining muscle, just getting a bit thinner when I lifted, even with good diet I was barely gaining. Turns out my pituitary was whacked out, and I wasn't making LH and FSH, which makes your balls do their thing. Now I'm on prescribed roids (100mg/week testosterone cyponate), sucks giving yourself shots, but my mood is better.
Now that I'm on that stuff I need to start lifting again..

Gym rat here too!!! Hit the gym 5x a week, mainly weights, some cardio now that its summer time, my wife goes too, (big reason why I can go 5x a week)....
Stats:
6'4" 256 lbs
18" neck
52" chest
19" arms
35" waist
18.75" calfs..
Max bench was 455, have not tried again in a little while though, going that heavy makes my joints hurt.. :( Now I am in a mini competition with my buddies before our annual Vegas trip, he who comes in that weekend in the best shape gets his trip paid for by everbody else (all except plane ticket).. Should be fun, my wife is really into helping me stick on track, although an occasional ice cream sandwich makes it in there every once in a while... hhahaha
