The DSE instructions are a bit vauge in certain areas, I'm stumped right now with the installation of the upper-link pockets.

The instructions say "drill two rows of 5/16" on the outboard flange of the pocket in line with the frame rail"

The frame rails as we know in First Gen Camaros are U shaped, with no backing on the top of the rail. Do they mean drill & plug-weld the holes below where the pocket has a "F" stamped in it, in line with the frame rail flange that comes out from the sides?

In the garage, someone bail me out of this, I've only got a certain amount of time I can make all this noise! otherwise have to wait til DSE is open tommarrow...

if someone needs pics to better understand chime in

I drilled two rows of holes through the pocket flange that lined up with where the frame is welded to the floorboard. They are just trying to attach to the strongest part of the flooring which would naturally be where the frame contacts.

The frame rail is 'U' shaped, but it has flanges on the top of each side where it is spot welded to the floorpan.. You're just trying to get a few welds to grab onto the inner part of the frame rail.

Hello, I am getting ready to do the DSE mini tubs and Quadra-link on my 69 Z as well. Curious how long they take to install.

tubs are supposed to take in the neighborhood of 40 hours, the quadra-link so far isnt take me much time at all, i've got maybe 5 hours into it, and with your guys' advice, the upper link pockets are almost done!

one question though, did you guys have to do much 'forming' of the floor pan to the bottom of the bracket? i've got probobly 1/4" of an inch of space on the inside flange that i'm working to remove...

thanks a ton guys

I had about the same space on one side. I used a hammer to make it fit better.

I welded all the parts that were in direct contact, then once the metal was hot, hammered the parts that had a gap until they were flush. The thick metal of the pockets bends easier once hot from the welder.

"tack & whack" works, eh?

I drilled the holes & plug welded along the frame rail...
