Finally some progress, all suspension parts have been ordered and delivered. Focus is on the Chassis set up. Mock-up and fabrication is well underway.
The Convertible will be powered by a 2006 LS7 crate motor.
Intro Wheels, 18x8.5 in front and 18x12.5 in rear. They are wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sports (335/35/18 out back).
Chassis has been narrowed 6 inches using stock frame rails to maintain the factory appearance and to fit the 18x12.5 wheels and rubber.
We have gone with a triangulated 4-link with Air Ride Technologies Air Bags in the rear attached to a Currie 9" Tru-Trac rear with 3.73:1 gears.
Fat Man Tubular A-Arms narrowed 1" each side. G-Force 2" Drop Spindles, 1" Drop Progressive Springs. 1 1/4" front sway bar from Hellwig. QA1 Shocks.
Detroit Speed & Engineering Quick Ratio Power Sterring Unit
Wilwood vented/slotted rotors (13" front/12.25" rear) with 6 piston Calipers on the front and 4 piston on the rear. Though the car is pretty straight, bodywork has not begun. Any shade of Red will most likely "NOT" be the final color.
We plan to go with a 4L80E and this will require some sheet metal work (enlargement) on the trans tunnel. In the photo the engine will be moved back 6" from it's current location for better weight distribution.
As you can see the frame still needs plenty of work. We plan to cross brace frame which will require the exhaust to be run through the frame for clearance.
The goal is to have the frame fabrication complete, frame and suspension parts prepped and powercoated (titanium), reassemebled with motor mounted in the next month.
Thanks to Mike Jones, Ragin Reproductions in Bradenton, Florida.
As you can see we have a long way to go, but we are moving in the right direction. I Will keep you updated...
