This is the return line fitting for the tranny cooler on my '99 4L80e.

I want to run a braided flex/line style setup to and from the transmission.. I was wondering if anyone has found a suitable replacement that converts over to an AN style setup.. The little extra part thats to the right of the threads is req'd or I'd just get an aeroquip style fitting and screw it in.

I didnt know if there was any replacement part out yet or if anyone has seen/used anything different.

Any help is appreciated..

Try here:

They have a 4L80e conversion page and might be able to help you out??

Good luck!

I bought a pair of 90' 6an to pipe adapters, then drilled the inside of the pipe thread out to 3/8ths, then tig welded the ends of the stock cooler lines into the 90.
This gave me a tight fitting adapter. If you are using the 80e in a Camaro you will soon see the need for the tight fit.

BTW they make an fittings that are made to weld on and have no threads on the other end, they are flat and i used those style

A 1/4 pipe to 6AN will set you free.

Sorry Frank but on the 97-up units you need that odd ball rear lube pipe thingy that extends into the support. 96 and older units can just use the 1/4 NPT fittings since they dont require the lube pipe extension.

Well, I broke down and ordered the Line Relocation Kit from Sonnax, (retrofits the newer case style to the older fluid line setup where both lines are up front) I dont need most of it, but it does have the ever so important fitting. If anyone has a connection at Sonnax, get them to sell just the fitting !!

I put a 90-degree fitting-to-AN-hose in both of my 4L80E holes and everything's fine. I don't know the fitting size or thread off the top of my head though.

These are the first pix I've seen that show the need for anything unusual for the fitting. Mine's a Hughes-built Street/Strip unit.

According to many, the tube is not needed. I am no trans expert, but do talk to them. However, I will make some more calls.

Thanks
