A poncho on the news? Cool! But what was the deal with Fox?

Bill Howell

Fox and Friends did a story on the Power Tour this morning. The Solice, the CARS camaro and the billygoat were the three cars that went to NYC this morning for the story. Those are the hosts of the show sitting in the goat, doing the story.

Bill, that is TOO COOL!!!!!! Looks like they were having a great time inthe car too, how neat is that?

Always hate to see the headline on the bottom of the page that says "Hamas responsible for...." World is screwed, thank heavens we still have hot rods to level things out.

I tried to edit the pictures Mark, but at 85mph on I-81, that is tough...lol

Ralph, I started to call you at 5am this morning to come join the fun, but figured you would not even roll over...:rotfl:

The host really liked the goat, he asked if he could crank it and rev the engine. I can not wait to see the tape, but it sounded good live. The only thing that sounded better was the Solice in the Lincoln tunnel, I got some video of that too! Man is that car sweet.

:lmao: Yeah, 5AM is something I need to plan a few days in advance for, haha. I wish I could've been there, though. I can't wait to see the show!

Bill....that is awesome. I am real sorry I missed that. I don't really watch channels like CNN or Fox News anyway. Would anyone happen to have a mpeg of the segment?
Awesome Bill....just awesome. By golly you are slowing becoming the most famous person in America these days. What's next? Leno? Letterman?:rotfl:

Very cool! I got up at 4:30 a.m. to watch it live. If someone didn't capture the show I can do it in a real long round about way from my Tivo.

Bill, can I get your autograph?

I captured it on my computer. I'll try to get it up in the next few days if no one does. The newswoman called the Y1 car a 1968 Camaro, and the Hot Rod guy not only did not correct her, he alter called it a 68. But I'll give him a pass, he seemed nervous!

The GTO looked swell.

Bonzo...thanks for the video.

Bill that is too cool. I was looking for you in that group of people...were you standing with them? If not where were you? Kinda sucks that they asked that guy from Hot Rod to explain your car...why don't they ask the owner?

Well, you know how shy I am.....lol
No hillbilly's allowed on national tv that have all their teeth?

Seriously, I think they had to promote the sponsors, that is why I had a Flowmaster windshield sticker. Anyone notice the Hotrod hat and magazine in my rear seat? If they had talked to me, I would have talked about the actual tour, but it was just an honor to be asked to go. I was giving a pass sticker to go into the studio, but choose to save it as a momento rather than use it.
Sadly, when I got home, something happened while Melinda was recording it, so I still have not seen it, so thanks for the link Bonzo.

Signature for everyone, lol
Seriously, this was a great experience, I hope more do it next year. Hot Rod made the announcement at the final ceremony yesterday that next year starts in Columbus,Ohio and ends in Little Rock, Ark.
Make plans now to join in on the fun, I plan on being there, just need to get the malibu finished.

I know some may get sick of hearing about the power tour, but I just have to say what a blast it was to meet more people.
One that really stands out is Charley's wife Shirley. I called her Mary all week but really enjoyed meeting her. We also introduced Charley to a southern speciality, goober peas (boiled peanuts). We have not won him over yet, but we are trying.
Mike (vintage racer) was so gracious to come every night to where ever we were staying and take as many as nine of us to supper in the limo. Rather than fight to find parking for 4 or 5 cars, he would simply pull up to the front door and park, so much fun. It was funny to watch everyone watch us, trying to figure out who the star was in the group. Of course, a couple nights we had Bob Johnson, a legend in his own mind, so he was the star.....lol
It seemed that every stop, I met board members, and I truely apologize if I did not remember all your names, we will have stickers next time.
I have had the oppertunity to meet a lot of members in my travels, and enjoy it everytime I meet a new face.
Thanks guys for all the fun!

Congrats on the NYC coverage Bill! It was nice to meet you in Roanoke (I think). I saw your ULTRA-SWEET Poncho many times, and even improved the look of my ride by parking next to you in the Roanoke Hotel parking lot. Sorry I did not get a chance to talk w/you further. Maybe next year...

Don,
When you posted the pictures earlier, I was thinking the same thing. I saw the nova a bunch, but you had always just left....lol
I started to put a business card on the windshield Saturday morning when we left for NYC just so you would know I had seen the car again. I went back to find you at Roanoke but you were gone again.:hand:

Next time, we will do better.

The real story was after we left NYC. The Solice picked up a nail in the Lincoln tunnel. We had to get it fixed to get back to Englishtown for the final ceremonies. Here are a couple shots of us scrambling to get it fixed.

Mark Stielow, if you see these, pass them on to the guy who was driving the Solice. Also, give him my email addy, he wanted all the other pictures I took of the car at FOX. I did not get his info. Thanks,

[email protected]

All this just goes to prove, cars are cars, regardless of how famous they are, still have issues....lol

So let me make sure I understand what I see in the picture. The Hot Rod/GM Solstice, which probably cost more to build than I paid for my house in 2000, gets a flat and it got plugged?!?!?!?!?!?!? :hammer::slap::fingersx::lmao: I hope it hit the trailer in E-Town!

Nope, I caught it too (I noted it on the youtube writeup). But a 68 would look nicer, almost as nice as a 67. But I have him a pass, he seemed a bit nervous & out of place. They should have let Bill do the talking. But I guess because he is a poser......

We did not have much choice. My spare would not fit, the Solstice had no spare and not any tire stores on the Jersey turnpike.:hammer:

It went very gently to etown and straight into the trailer.
