I had this idea once I visited garagejournal.com. I know alot of guys on here have some awesome shops either for private builds or your shops you work at or own that build cars for a living. so lets see some of those awesome shops, inside and out. I always like seeing old school machinery, projects,etc... just any cool shop layout in general. so start posting pics! :)

Here is mine...
I did a complete makeover this past winter. Paint, cabinets, mobile tool storage, etc. Everything in my shop is on casters except for the big bench. Makes for easy tool access AND cleaning.
These pics were taken right after I added four new lights in the middle of the room.
This is with the new lights turned off...

And here is a couple with them lit up...

I have since added hard lines for the air compressor with four drops in this room alone. I think my next improvement will be A/C.:jump:
I have always had a place to work on my cars but have never had a shop this nice... I enjoy going out there to work now. And it is as clean now as when these pics were taken. I am getting in the habit of putting things back at the end of the day...

These are year old pics! When we were building the shop. Shop is at my house in my side yard, has its own driveway now and is open to the public for business. Its a 40x60, and we just signed the papers to turn it into a 80x100 so business is good.

Before the rest of the heavy hitters post, I'm sneaking in my modest 2 bay shop.

I can squeeze in 6 cars. Half of it is not shown here.

Never mind. Had a website for garages but the link doesn't work. I thought it was www.garagejunkies.org but that no longer works. Someone on here should know it.

I really like your workbench/cabinets. Is that something your purchased, had built, or did yourself?

I need info.

Guy doing a home remodel. Now's the time to insert this kind of thing especially since it'll be so much cheaper than the cabinets in the kitchen. I'm sure I can slip this in.

Thanks for compliment, I lucked out with that stuff because my brother works where they make the big floor freezers for grocery stores. They are actually the kick plates of the freezers, they were 8" high and 48" long which works perfect in a 24 x 24 shop..thanks again, Jim

I am not sure where he got his but Home Depot and Lowes both stock white laminate cabinets like these in varius configurations. We used it to put a kitchen in at my ofiice...inexpensive and easy to assemble and install yourself.

Heres mine...since the car is at the paint shop getting touched up and buffed I decided to paint the floor. I took everything out last weekend, degreased and etched the floor this week after work, primerd this morning and Behr 1-part epoxy color going down tomorrow morning. I store my Mustang in the deep spot and tool boxes and workbench line the left wall. My wife parks her Expedition behind the Mustang. Her car is often relegated to the driveway with my truck because I typically roll the car back when I need to work on it.

The cabinets are from Lowes. Added a 2x4 frame to raise the cabinets and pulled them from the wall 12". Wanted to have a deeper counter and more height. The 2x4's also help to give something to anchor too.The cabinets are called something like Simple Salutions?? Anyway the largest and cheapest cabinets I could find.
Counter is just 3/4 plywood painted. When it gets nasty Ill just rip off and replace.
I probaly have around $1500 into it.

Here's a couple pics of the good side right after I got it done, so there's no pic of the bench and tool box (which is in there now).
The other side is finished but just has cement floor and I have yet to finish the ceiling.

Hey guy's one thing to remember is if your putting a heater in your shop is that the radiant heaters heat the physical objects in the garage were as a heater with a fan heats the air itself. If it's a shop where your car sits alot radiant heaters will dry your paint and rubbers out, a heater with a fan is better for your car.

Wow, my question was so good you answered it twice! Cool!:woot:

Thanks for the info. Can I talk you into some photos of how you mounted the system? Are the upper cabinets from the same supplier?

This isn't my shop, but here are some rough sketches of what my fiance and I are planning to do before long. She is studying architecture, so she gets the final say so on the outer design. We plan to build the front section as a 2 bedroom apartment and live in it while we build our house and eventually turn it into a guest house. Here is the idea I have, and the floor layout.

Nice if you live somewhere in the south or midwest. But a piece of property that size in CA (anywhere near the Bay Area, LA or SD) will run you no less than $5-7M.
