theres a write up in a recent magazine about a company offering them for sale, ill have to dig thru the stack unless someone else read the article. the thing that sucks in they cut up donor first gen cars to make it work instead of using repro sheetmetal.

I really thought the idea of taking a new camaro inside and drivetrain with a 69 outer look would be awesome. Some guys here have successfully created a nice 4th gen interior in 69's. It takes money though. If you have money and want to get in a magazine you'll do it. So it was only a matter of time before someone did. They beat me to the punch...but I'm poor and they have money. Money, funny how it makes things easier.

That would be great and probably cheaper than buy a 5th gen or 1st gen.

If you have about 5 years of spare time on your hands and are one hell of a fabricator..

...and once your done it wouldnt be worth a penny

OR you can spend that free time putting half decent suspension in it (c5) and ls1 swaps are a peice of cake on that kind of scale. And anyone can build a decent custom interior, not to mention aside from the seats a stock first gen is infinately nicer than a 4th gens.

I think Adam (CamaroBoy69) was one of the very first to do it. From what I understand, it really doesnt cost that much and isnt that difficult. Just find someone with a wrecked one on ebay and buy the parts.

Thanks Mike

But that's not the same deal. The retro rides people strip the 4th gens down to the bare structure, stretch the wheel base and then put all new 1st gen sheet metal on.....including a new roofline.

The camaro in 69rs's picture still has the 4th gen roofline and windshield. Leading me to believe that the 1st gen sheetmetal was modified to fit the current 4th gen chassis and structure. Also you can see the tops of the fenders have been narrowed to fit. It seems kinda similar to the C5 Corvettes rebodied with '55 vette 'esk bodies

I was just wondering if there any more pictures of this car from different angles. I have a 96' 4th gen daily driver and it would be cool to consider this for an option in the future.

Retro Rides is a joke and you will never see your car completed. I'd be amazed if they last thru 2008. Trust me I wasted a year with these clowns :ripped:

Being a fabrication shop this is something that can be done and is not that hard just very time consumming. You will need some money and time to do this. I think you are better taking a 1st Gen and building it the way you want, you can take a 1st gen and make it blow away a new style car.

You can do it, but you need your head examined.:screwy:

I remember reading an article on these and goodmark was involved at that time.... Not sure why anyone would want to do this given the aftermarket for original cars...

Goodmark has since bailed from this company. They partnered up originally then got the shaft from Retro Rides. Like Unique Performance they couldn't deliver and money issues. Can you say - BANKRUPTCY. Retro Probably won't be far behind with their business ethics.

With an idea like that no wonder.

Hate to change the subject, but since the questions pretty much already answered, I had the idea you could completely unbolt the nose from a 1st gen camaro but by that goodmark pic a few post up, apparently not. Are all camaros like this? Because I totally thought the shell was just from the firewall back.

The pic above is of the hybrid shell that Retro Rides was using. Normal first gens don't look like that.

Guess that explains it. Thanks Derek.
