For those of us with a penchant for photography, that have digital SLR's and occasionally might want to take macros (close ups), but don't want to foot the $1500+ for a macro lens you can take something like a 70-300, or an 18-55 (kit lens for canons) and flip around a 50mm (glass to glass) with either your hand or an adapter ring (like 5 bucks), and get some wicked results.

(and these are roughly 1/3rd the size of the original image!)
You have to manually focus, and you need a lot of light, and there is some vignetting with some ranges...but for the price and results you can't beat it.

Cool! Is that a full-frame SLR?

I just got the thumbs up on getting a new camera...since I ran over my current Sony 707 on the 2004 Power Tour with the Mustang. It still works but the LCD display broke. I've been looking at the Canon 5D.

5D is my next upgrade, I'm going to wait a little bit because I think they might rev their full frame models pretty soon. I have a 300D now, but a full frame is the only worthwhile upgrade from a 300D.... I really don't see a big enough difference in the 300d/350d/20d/30d.

707's and 717s are really great cameras too..
