For those of us with a penchant for photography, that have digital SLR's and occasionally might want to take macros (close ups), but don't want to foot the $1500+ for a macro lens you can take something like a 70-300, or an 18-55 (kit lens for canons) and flip around a 50mm (glass to glass) with either your hand or an adapter ring (like 5 bucks), and get some wicked results.

(and these are roughly 1/3rd the size of the original image!)
You have to manually focus, and you need a lot of light, and there is some vignetting with some ranges...but for the price and results you can't beat it.
