We will be running our 67 Mustang Coupe at Grattan raceway and I was looking for different ideas to vent the front drums. We dont have time to convert to discs so dont even mention it.
Can I simply use dryer vent hose and run down by the brakes? Sounds very easy like on open wheel cars or ford spec cars.

you have to have a way to get the air into the backing plates, ie: a hole and then a way to attach the hose, look at some scca race cars or tracked cars,

Take a look here at what Chevy did with the 63 Z06 race vettes. See the pict of the brakes halfway down the left side.

Just one possible way.

If you go to the track you'll see that some guys actually drill holes in the drums (through the friction surface). This is an acceptable practice BUT you need to be very carefull where you drill. It's pretty easy to end up with a cracked drum.

I think this is going to be fun trying to find a way to get this car to stop better with drum brakes.I like a challenge so I will have fun creating something for this. :yeah:
Luckily its only a straigh 6 engine so she wont be going that fast. Otherwise I would put disks at least on the front.
