Chucks73

If you could chose one of the cars built on the Wrecks to Riches show which one would you take?

1964 Marauder
1969 Mustang
1969 Camaro
1969 Chevelle
1969 Dart
1970 GTO
1971 Torino
1971 GTX
2005 Mustang

Need refreshing http://www.supermusclecar.com/

I would have to go with the 69 Camaro but the 69 Dart was very nice too.

The 64 Marauder is my favorite.

the 69 camaro!!..

that was the only one without the hopped up rear end

BADVELLE

The Marauder hands down! I loved the vintage quality and painted wheels, nicest by far, so I say.

The Marauder was so f'ing cool.. even with the stickers..

I liked them all, the only problem I had was the jacked up rear on most of the cars, an easy fix.

I would have to say the Camaro then the Dart.

I put alot of time and sweat into the Camaro. But second and hard to beat is a HEMI Dart.

69 Mustang...I liked the Marauder too but IMO the wheels are wrong.

I'd have to say none - no desire to have an automatic muscle car. If forced to choose, I'd take the Camaro.

I agree with the observations that Barry's choice of stance is odd, and is not to my taste.

Camaro_Kyle
06-01-2006, 05:54 AM
I had to vote for the GTX, just because I have yet to see one fixed up like that. Although I haven't seen an episode of this show (don't have the luxury of TLC in College), judging from the website pics, it looks pretty unique and badass, IMO. The Dart would have been my second pic, but there was just something about it that didn't flow with me.

I hate the scoop on the Dart! Always have hated those stupid scoops!
I like the GTO best. It just has nice lines and I like the color. Of course the stance on ALL the cars is screwy.

GIDRDUN
06-01-2006, 08:36 PM
I agree the stance is odd. That is how they set streetrods up. The Chevelle and the Camaro was a fight to set with the correct stance. But since I set these up and did the alignments I won on those two. I agree that there is nothing to special as for fab work. There is a lot of trick items on the cars but the camera only has time to show so much. But remember only 4 weeks to build.

Definately the Camaro.

06-02-2006, 05:49 AM
I don't think the show has aired, or if it ever will, but they also did a '64 Nova gasser style. They showed a few quick clips of it during the Dart episode. That one is my favorite, just because I don't like any of the wheels that were put on the other cars.

I didnt see any of the shows but after viewing the pictures on the site I say my vote goes to the 1971 Plymouth “GTX” Super Muscle Car.
I would love to get paid to do that job for a living. Why cant someone start a show like that in Michigan!

bingham72
06-02-2006, 10:38 AM
I vote for none of the above. there is just something not right with a 69 camaro with a push button auto tranny. at least throw in the ol' staple shifter.

Aaron

I have to agree... the show is great, the car choices are a good mix of common
(Mustang, Camaro, Chevelle) and uncommon (Torino, 71 GTX, Marauder), less fake drama
than AHR, etc.

But the wheels... ugh. Most seem like they came off a honda. The gold wheels on the
69 mustang had to be the worst.

GIDRDUN
06-02-2006, 03:22 PM
The 64 Nova is due to air on May 6th. I found this car for the show and it turned out awesome. Big Block,Blown, Injected straight axle. What more could you ask for.

Something that can handle!! I can't stand that the gasser look is coming back. Worst look ever, right behind the big stinkbug stance!

68Formula
06-02-2006, 03:47 PM
Yup, never been a gasser fan from day 1. Can only appreciate them if the photos are black and white, and everyone in it has a crew cut.

Liked the NASCAR inspired ride, though.

Marauder closely followed by the Hemi Dart.

06-03-2006, 10:49 PM
I also don't like most of their wheel choices and the stance of some of the cars. But for me I can't decide either the Hemi Dart or the 69' Camaro.

68Formula
06-04-2006, 12:18 PM
Looks like you could adjust the stance by changing the wheel size to match the front.

lemansboy
06-06-2006, 12:13 AM
Looks like you could adjust the stance by changing the wheel size to match the front.
you would have to. EVERY time I watch the show, I think,"this one looks pretty good". Then the wheels go on and they ALL look like stink bugs. the huge wheels on the rear ruin the look.

06-06-2006, 08:58 PM
Gidrdun, could you pat your self on the back any more? The reason the Camaro and the Chevelle came out as they did was not because of your alignment, or that you "set them up", they sat that way because thats the way sat. You only worked on 3.5 of the cars and then you were gone. Please don't make it sound like you were there till the end or say stuff like "nothing to special as for fab work" you did exhaust and bolted parts together. We did alot more fab work on the cars then was ever seen on the show. For every one else, thanks for watching the show and we hope for the most part you enjoyed it. We look forward to the members PT coming to the shop this weekend. Thanks again for watching.

P.S.

We WILL NOT have any 20" wheels on any of the cars next season:cheers:

"I work for Barry" did you guys sell the Nova yet? What numbers did it run on the dino?

I_work_for_Barry
06-06-2006, 09:38 PM
Yes we did sell the nova and it went to Reggie Jackson, the baseball player. As far as the numbers go, we never got to make a real hard pull on the dyno, but it made over 600 at the rear wheels before the hose came off. I think it was at 14lbs of boost but it could have been at 10. After the first few runs on the dyno we got a phone call to come down to the shop to change the pully because it was spinning the blower to hard for pump gas. This car was a blast to be around and even more fun to build. I wish we could have kept it. I know that Reggie ran the car threw the BJ auction and it sold for over $76,000 to an X nascar driver. That was almost double for what the car was sold for.

It has to be an age thing. LOL
It is an age thing..I love the look of the straight axle cars. you would have to have been there and watch them run to really appreciate them. No they won't go around a corner but that's not the reason they were built. We bought a 53 stude a few years ago in Scottsdale that was an early car of Kenny Bernsteins. The quality of work on those early drag cars was scary. lots of them didn't even have front brakes..now thats scary..but I love the look..brings back some real fond memories..times were much more simple then..

I agree, not all of the cars that were built for the "show" came out as cookie-cutter as the "gods" of pro-touring would have built. I agree with "I Work For Barry". I myself work for Barry and have worked on the show cars. For someone to take credit for work he did not do is completely unprofessional.
It is so awesome that the show is getting this much feedback. To all the Monday Morning Quarterbacks out there, pick up the phone or shoot an e-mail to the shop. We would love to answer your questions directly. To all the people coming to the shop on Saturday - Horns Up!!!!!

I_Work_For_Barry, What did this guy ever do to you? He never said he was on the show till the end. He also has never talked trash about anyone or anything inregards to the show. I don't recall you going to work for them until the start of the Nova, so what leg do you have to stand on. Give it a rest already.

As for the show, maybe next season will be a better season for all.

so what leg do you have to stand on. Give it a rest already. What leg do YOU have to stand on? What if I were to let everyone here know that this website notifies every moderator when someone logs into the site with two different screen names? What if I were to tell everyone that "GIDRDUN" and "provintage" are the same person?

I don't like liars. Not one little bit. I think YOU should "give it a rest allready".

That's warning #2 if you're keeping track (https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showpost.php?p=171458&postcount=19).

I have two legs to stand on. I came to work for Barry during the GTX build which was the third car. So if my memory is correct I got to build the GTX, GTO, Nova, 05 Mustang, 69 Mustang, Marauader, Torino, and the Dart. Did I miss any? not to add fuel to the "fire" but to hopefully put this issue to rest, i work for barry actually started part time at the beginning of the camaro build technically. due to his schedual he didnt work on the car. however, when he started full time we were about a 1/4 of the way into the GTX build. i am positive of this since he built the shifter mount inside the car due to the header clearance for the smart shifter actuator. as far as time and sweat invested, we all equally shared the build as well as the build teams doing 90% of the work. the camaro, mustang, gto and torino all had build teams.there is no "I" in team at Barrys speed shop and that is one of the main reasons why i enjoy working there. and yes we cant wait to get started on the second season the buzz in the shop is exciting as well as the fan feedback being extreamly positive. hopefully this puts and end to the statements made by an ex employee.

it is not a matter of being offended GIDRDUN/PROVINTAGE, its just that we as well as the entire forum are pretty much tired of it..............no offence but move on, it seems as if you have been "warned" a few times here. enough is enough already. sorry that you have been the subject of the editors knife so to speak. it is not the fault of anybody at the shop or the production company that you dont have any screen time and it seems as if this is your way to "prove" that you "made" it all happen. again there is no "I" in team. thank you.

GIDRDUN
06-10-2006, 09:47 PM
It has nothing to do with screen time. Where did that come from. Just adding my two cents like everyone else has but it seems because one is not a part of the show he can't comment. It is still a free country and one is intitled to ones opinion. i am also tired of it. I came on here not to trash anyone or anything but to help or get help where it is needed. Please feel free to check my other post and you will see no trashing has taken place.
