Can someone please tell me which backspacing to get on A 17X8 Boyd Smoothie II. They are for A 69 Camaro and I will be using Touring Classics C4 kit. The car has stock arms. Thanks for any help. Also would a Nitto 315X35X17 555R be ok one their 17X10 Smoothie II. Kevin

Kevin you want the 17x8 to have a 5" b.s. and yes the 315 will be fine on the 10" wheel (this is what I run) but a 11 is optimum, unless you mini-tub at least 2.5" you will never get it under the car. On a '69 you possibly might fit it with a 2" tub since the 69 has wider fender wells to begin with over the 67-68...measure, measure, measure!! :)

Oh and WELCOME!!!!! :)

Thanks, The people at Boyd say 4.5'' backspacing on a 17x8 for the front. My car has been mini tubed. Iam going to put a 245/45/17 on the front with a 315/35/17 on a 17x10 for the rear. Kevin

Kevin if you want to lower the car at all I wouldn't go any less than 4.75 bs, and would stick to 5" as it seem to work every time...

Remember the people at Boyd's are probably used to fitting them on stock height cars for a fitment base number and not trying to maximise the fitment of the wheel/tire/suspension/frame/ride height/disc brakes like we are trying to do here...

For what it's worth I have 17x8s w/ 5"bs 245/45/17 and 17x10 w/ 5"bs (narrowed rear end & 2.5" mini-tub) 315/35/17s on my 68 w/ 4 wheel discs and love the fitment.

Kevin, for what it's worth I have 5" BS on Smoothie II's on my 67' Firebird. I will be running Wilwood brakes. 5" clears the inner tie rod but I could have even gone another 1/4" easy.

I have QA1 Coilovers and will probably lower the front a little after it all settles. I have no brakes on now so when I put on the discs it will move the wheels about 1/2" I guess.

Thanks for the info. I decided to go with17x8x 4.7/8'' with 245x45x17 on the front, and 5.5'' X17x10 on rear with a 315x35x17 Nitto drag radial on rear. Car is being mini tubed with Detroit Speed kit with 3'' drop springs. This is what backspacing they use. Hope it works. Kevin
