I don't know Jeff, but too much like a PT Cruiser to me. Maybe I should drive one before I dis them too much.

make sure to get the 2.4 and not the 2.2.
the 2.2 is to underpowered and you wont be happy unless you are only buying it to save gas. there are a lot of bind spots but over all they are a fun "truck"

What's "special" with the special edition?
I'd take one over a PT Cruiser but neither are anything I'd want.

IMHO..............Yuck! Typical extremely bland GM styling of the past few years. My two cents for what it's worth.

Just a thought - for the guys that are not endorsing the HHR what do you guys think would be a good choise in this price range. I need an everyday car for the wife and can't decide what to get either. I like the room in this thing and don't mind the styling. With the 17" wheels it really doesn't look that bad does it? Lets hear some alternatives. Thanks
Yes , it is called the SPRING EDITION and it is VICTORY RED .
from what i found out on the net the numbers being produced in VICTORY RED is only around 2300.
They come with a custom 2 tone interior that has the retro look, i like it.
As far as being compared to a PT cruiser , I thought the same thing but it drives much better in my opinion and built on a better foundation .
the PT Cruiser was built on a Neon chassis and was basicly a throw away car.
the HHR is built on a COBALT chassis and has a better crash test rating from what i can find on the net.
the car is REALLY quiet to drive and almost NO outside noise.
its also under 20K for a new car .
I am just looking for a GAS SAVER and its really for Jeanne - my other half .
If i buy it , that makes 14 cars i have :jawdrop: - 12 of which are plated and drivers but mostly BBC or race cars and i have my truck to drive so YES , i need a gas mizer.
1970 Cuda : you talking about the SILVER strip on the side that says HHR at the back ?
IF SO , That was my thought as well and i already told the dealer about that too...
I also DONT want the Chrome wheels and if i buy it will be swapping out for the Satin aluminum wheels.
i asked for opinions so good or bad is welcome :twothumbs :twothumbs

I hate to admit it, but I am clueless as to how much a HHR cost! If a trailblazer is close, I would certain go for one of those.

Jeanne is not your other half, so is your better half. I know, I have met her.:slap:
She appriciates that Bill !
Maybe being my better half , i can get her to pay better than half of the monthly payment:rotfl: :rotfl:

If I needed a mini-van type of vehicle, I would definitely look at an HHR. Excepting for the silly name, I think they look pretty cool! The are larger than a PT for sure, very nice looking.
Shiny Side Up!

Whether you like the "look", the "price", the "room", or whatever... "You" are the one buying and driving the car... Do what you need to do.
I like them myself. They drive nice and have tons of room. My buddies base model, with the 2.2, CAN get out of it's own way and, what you really need to know is the suspension is the same as the Cobalt... all of the SS stuff will bolt on if you want to do some handling improvements.:jump:

I had the opportunity to drive one for a week. I was pleasently surprised by it. It's no race car - even with the 2.4L. I'd strongly recommend the 5 speed to help the feel off the line. But it got 30+ MPG, drove well, was pretty roomy inside for carrying stuff - I liked it. Styling is subjective, but I think with the big chrome wheels and no roof rails - they look distinctive and somewhat attractive.

I like them. I was going to get one. Then I sat in it! No go! At least no for someone my size. And BTW guys, trailblaxers are way more than an HHR.

There are still a LOT of auto manufacturers using rear drum brakes on FWD vehicles.

I saw a lot of cool examples at SEMA last year. This one was my favorite:

They have good pickup, good interior space for their size and the price is right. I took a firend car shopping. I showed her that and the Scion Refrigerator for the same money. She bought neither, but the HHR seemed like the better choice.

My wife wants one. I've driven one and it seemed to have plenty of pep and was impressed at how quiet it was at highway speeds.

I personally don't like them, around here we call them "Me Too" Cruisers. As far as what to get in exhange, I have no idea, my daily driver is a Civic!
WELL , I OWN IT !
i think i did pretty well and fought a tough battle !
out the door , sales tax and all 2.9 finance and UNDER 20K
the thing is loaded , seat warmers , remote start , custom interior , CD player , so on so on! NO SUN ROOF
NO , its no race car but thats not what we got i got it for ...

HEY BILL , my worst fears arise again.
Driving to work today , MY BETTER HALF , was made aware of the fact that when she checked her oil , SHE FORGOT TO CLOSE THE FREAKIN HOOD ALL THE WAY !!!!
Driving down the road , the hood on the 94 Stepside truck flew up and bent the crap out of it...YES , SHE"S OK , thank God.
upset and scared but OK...
We were going to sell it and still will but probably not as much now .LOL
I hope she doesnt wreck the new car!:hammer:
