I am currently doing my research for swapping to an electric fan set-up.

I am looking at either the Taurus 3.8 or the MK VIII fans. The MK VIII seems to have more interest on here, but is there any reason why the Taurus is not as good?

When wiring the DCC it only mentions connecting to one +ve wire on the fan, but there are 2 wires on the fan. I would assume that as the voltage is controlled you would hook it to the higher speed input. If so, what happens to the other wire?

The other wire is a ground.

No, I'm talking about the 2 speed fans, they have 3 wires. The DCC install instructions only mention 2 (+ve and -ve)

You need to connect the two outermost wires to the controller. One is ground, the other is +12V high speed. You can cap off the center terminal on the fan. -Jabin

The taurus fan is a little smaller (16" diameter), puts out a little less CFM than the Mark VIII (18" diameter). About 4300 cfm for the Taurus compared to 5000 for the Mark fan.

ANd yes, with a DC controller, you wire in the high speed to the fan. the controller will take care of the speed. Just cap off the low-speed wire.
