Sorry, if I'm re-addressing a topic, but I looked and couldn't find anything specific ...
Has anyone successfully mated a 2nd gen front subframe to a 1st gen unibody?
If anyone has any info or links that directly addresses this, I'd greatly appreciate it ... I have been watching, for months, for a replacement stock subframe for my '68 Firebird, but there seems to be a "void" of these in the Mid-West (specifically Colorado) ... I see them all over the place in NE and in California, but nothing local.
Have a bead on a '78 subframe and if it is a do-able mod/mating, I'm gonna have to consider it.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

I know it has been done, but other than that :dunno: , I haven't been able to learn anything else about the swap.

Links from David Pozzi's website are below. I currently have my fully rebuilt 68 subframe sitting in my garage, and a subframe from an 81 Camaro waiting outside to swap into my 51 Chevy truck. Just by looking at the two, there doesn't seem to be that great of a difference. I think it would be a matter of measure twice and cut once. The real question is if the effort is going to worth it? For me, switching from a straight axle, drum brake suspension in the truck to independent suspension with disc brakes and power steering is definitely worth the effort. I don't know if I woud want to go through all of the effort if it was for the Camaro though. I guess it also comes down to what you are able to find to work with.

What about an early 70s Nova subframe? They are the same as the first gens.

EFICAM69,
Tried calling "Larry" at the number you left, but the lady who answered said that I had the wrong number ... ???
Is there a different number that I could try?
Thanks,
Dave
