id like to know the side wall height of a 245/40 18 and a 245 45 18
What do the height figure into inches.

Hi Lowbuck
Goes like this
245 x .40 = 98 mm divide by 25.4 = 3.858 inches x 2 = 7.716 + 18 = 25.716 inches total height
and
245 x .45 = 110.25 mm divide by 25.4 = 4.340 inches x 2 = 8.68 + 18 = 26.68 inches total height

Shawn, so to answer your question-the sidewall height of a 245/40 is 3.858 inches and a 245/45 is 4.340 inches.

I always go to tire rack and get the total tire diameter, then subtract the wheel diameter, divide that total by two and that's the sidewall...works for me!! :)
