First things first.. in a couple weeks the new and improved PHR will hit the streets.. Even better than the 140 pages is the fact that Hometown Hotrodding is now about 6 pages and is in the middle of the book instead of stuck at the end.

This is good for you and bad for me since I need to fill a lot more pages now.. lol.

The first half of Hometown is the typical "done" cars in all their glory. The second half is new and features cars that are "under construction". This way you can get that never ending project into the book.

For done cars the rule is "the better the pic(s).. the bigger they will run" Some members here that sent in great pics will get a full page. Lower resolution or poorer quality pics will still run but smaller. If you send me a great pic of the car and a great engine shot I will run both. You get the idea.

Same with the "under construction" deal. The cooler the shot the bigger it's ran and if you have a rendering of the final deal I will run that too. Steevo took a cool shot of Jim Mulveys '69 being worked on, it ran a full page.

A note on resolution.. this is a magazine and not the internet.. 72dpi is great on here but we can only print at 300dpi. Sometimes when I convert a sent in pic to 300dpi it ends up being 1x1 INCHES.. lol.. So when you take the pic do it in the highest setting of your camera and don't shrink it to email it. If the files are huge let me know and you can mail me a CD. You can also mail me photos if your digital skills are behind the times.

Now for a note on lost images. I recently had a hard drive problem and lost a ton of data on cars and some images. The images I have left have zero info on who's cars they are. If you haven't seen your car in the mag and you have sent it in let me know and if lost I will have you resend the data. Remember that two months (12 pages) of cars are at the printer right now, so your car may already be "in the hopper".

This is your chance to get in the book and how much space you get is up to you. The June issue even has a ton of tips on how to take a good car picture. There is also a story on this at our website (from June 2005).

Ok, this is turning into WAR AND PEACE so I am done now.. Can't wait to see your pics!

Steve is this something even I can get involved with? My car has a long way to go but the idea of "under construction" definetly fits my category. You can let me know here or via PM. Every pic I ever took of my car is on my site. I have a couple favorites so just let me know. I am sure you will be swamped. I still need to read the latest PHR mag so I can start taking better pics of my car.
I dont want a huge article just mabey a little section on one of the pages somewhere about my car.

Yep.. anyone that reads the mag can send in their car or cars.. a crappy pic of a $500,000 car will run smaller than a killer shot of a beater.. pic your favorites and send them over

Everyone should know my email is [email protected] :) -- for really huge files you can email to [email protected]

Send it on in!

I sent you a few pics via your e-mail. Hopefully the pics are big enough. I have a terrible camera. My average pic is only 359k and 640x480.

Steve...I'll send you something when the car is in color. It's too ratty right now. I also fit into that "under construction" catagory. Or does your car have to be a Super Car under construction?

Sure.. if your a reader of PHR and it's your ride then who are we to decide if it's "appropriate"?

So long as it's not your 91 Accord daily driver then it's cool.. :)

I've been going over the submissions and here are the two big problems I find...

1. the pics are tiny.. we run them at 300dpi (this isn't the 72dpi internet).. some pics end up being 1x2 inches at 300dpi and that's great for a postage stamp but not so much for a magazine.. lol

Please send me the biggest possible file you have.. if you have a 1mp camera it might be time to go shopping (and set the camera on the highest setting)

2. No info.. I need to write up a short paragraph or two on your car, so I need some info. and not just a parts list.. how about a cool story about how you found the car or something. Required info includes your name, where you are, and the basics on the car.
