XV001 rolled out into the sunshine for the first time this week to film the final episode of Dream Car Garage’s 2006 season.
We ran it at Mosport, which is a beautiful big track where the car could really stretch its legs.
You’ll be able to see the car on Dream Car Garage on Speed the week of May 15th; first airing is on Wednesday the 17th. There should be some really great footage as we ran a chase car and also had it running against a Z8 for a bit.
The car worked really, really well and everyone involved is extremely pleased with how the car turned out.
There’s still a couple things to do on the car but it wowed everyone that saw it, both with its looks and its performance.
It now runs dead-flat through the turns.
XV002 is under way now and suspension development for the B-Body’s as well. XV003 is also being started and will be a seriously menacing B-Body. Hopefully that one is done in time for the V-Show in July in NY City.
It’s a huge relief for us to have the TV commitments behind us as it turned many (as in all) of our priorities upside down. I think you guys will really dig seeing this car run on a big track, so make sure to check out the show.
If, you’ve missed any of the previous episodes and want to see them, they will start replaying all thirteen of them the following week and then another two cycles through the end of the year. It’s getting harder and harder for me to find the time to post updates as there are many balls to juggle right now; but I’ll do my best to make posts.
Enjoy!

Lookin great John!!
Now I have a question for you. I'm from the Niagara Falls area, how does an average Joe like me get on the track at Mosport or the Dunnville track?:3gears:
Edit: I didn't notice you were from New York, any tracks for public use in NY close to me?

Looks awesome. Only thing I would add to that car is a Challenger T/A front spoiler to complete the track-ready look.
Mosport is an amazing track to ring out a car with some HP. It's even more interesting at night. :naughty:

Mosport is closer to you than Dunville and the track is much more fun and nicer. Watkins Glenn may be an option as well.
Best shot is to look for an open track day put on by any number of groups, like PDA, SCDA, EMRA, NASA or others. They are typically structured as driving schools with instructors and you get to run laps once they are happy you can safely run your car around the track. Some will also have time trials at the end of the day, where fastest lap wins and some also run enduros.

We spent the whole day filming, right up until it was time for the track to close. Wasn't time on this outing to get lap times.
We invited a few other cars to run as well during the day and they would have to clear the track when we ran the car for filming and sent the camera crew out. The Panoz/Multimatic team were there w/ a couple of cars shaking them down and also the Accufab Ford GT was there.
We also had a couple of photographers on hand to try and get some tasty shots.
With a camera crew it is all done via radio filming different sections of the track. We did a lot of different things that they hadn't ever done before on the TV show, so it took alot of time.
This outing was all about getting it done for the TV show. we'll get out again on our own and collect some data, just wasn't time on this trip.

Dean, Dunville would be closest to you, and is a great track for a first-timer. Mosport can be pretty intimidating for someone who has never been on a road course before. Heck, I'd been to Shannonville a bunch of times before trying anything else, and Mosport still scared the crap out of me my first time there. LOL

Dean - Ed's going to know the geography much better than me, so listen to him on proximity. I do remember leaving Woodstock a little after 4 AM to beat traffic and make it to Mosport first thing - painful!
He is also correct, Mosport is an intimidating track with lots of elevation changes, some blind turns and even a downhill off-camber turn. Not one to cut your teeth on, but a beautiful track and an awesome one to drive. It's definitely a track you can get in over your head on.
Here's a couple more shots of different parts of it.

Those pics are awesome, that is where that car looks happy. A lot of very high tech projects seem to stay projects forever, nice to see you guys get it done , finished and on the track.

Very hot. What are tire sizes? What is the price for a car configured as shown?
275/35-18 up front
295/35-18 in rear
We have room for larger in rear due to the redesigned suspension. At least 315's and probably 335's - we'll find out soon enough how big we can fit em. Best part there is no tubbing or changes to the wheel well front or back to accomodate the tires.
Pricing is a function of what kind of car we start w/ - for example a 74 Cuda is much cheaper raw material than a 71 Cuda convertible. Convertibles are the most expensive.
It's also a function of what goes into the car - 5.7 or 6.1 HEMI, 5 or 6 speed trans, Level I or II suspension and brakes, etc. All the cars are taken down to bare metal and get a show quality paint job, all metal, panel and door gaps better reworked to better than stock, color sanded and so on.
They are all getting custom interiors w/ power Recaro's w/ custom leather, custom dash pad, console will be done shortly and be standard, real wool carpet, all interior panels wrapped, ultrasuede headliner, power windows, high end Alpine stereo (w/ iPod interface in every one), custom instrumentation, power windows, power door locks, power trunk release, power antenna, A/C, frt/rear defrost, alarm and a whole lot more.
Everything on the cars is basically new or restored to new, and the cars are completely re-engineered.
Prices range from $129K to around $250K. Fully loaded car like the one shown is around $170K.

We wanted to build cars that are totally track capable and no better way to make sure of that than start running them on track from the outset. All our stuff is being fully track tested and dialed in.
Part of what likely helps is that we are not building one-off cars, everything we are doing is done to be production based. Virtually everything that makes the car work has been engineered by professionals and it's all being fully tested. Everything was designed and engineered to work as complete systems.
We've been able to tap into some of the best people and technology out there to engineer the solutions that we wanted. From where I sit, there has been real value in doing that because the final product works as we wanted it to from the outset.
