you might want to go get a couple under your belt before you tackle that one. If its for fun at the track go for it.

At the track is where it belongs, but be prepared to get :spank2:

have to say he'd walk off from you,you have a nice package but its not 500 hp.a new z06 will run 11's

I'm sure you would have fun but your going to get spanked. Your combo MIGHT pull a high 12 with perfect conditions and a good driver.

A friend took his 18 mile 06 Z06 straight to the dragstrip and ran an 11.3X. I do not think you can hang with that.

Should you be worried? No. You should be expecting to be spanked. But I say go for it. It would be fun, and a good learning experience. heh.. Learning what the back end of an '06 Z06 looks like....

Have you ever heard one of those things at full throttle? It would be worth losing (and you will) just to hear that.

Do it on the track or you are a moron.

Besides, if he screws up and you win, you've beat a Z-06! :1st:

I am generally against street racing, but the other day I passed a z06 like it was standing still. I was in my buddys Noble gt, the noble goes from 60 to 140 in a heartbeat. The guy in the vette wanted to go again but I did the mature thing for once and waved him off. I have a photo of the noble but i cant resize it.

Threadjack over,sorry.

You gonna get your ass kicked! You will need some giggle gas to handle that thing

It's not just about 500 HP. It lighter, has traction control, has a lower drag coefficient, wider tires, computer tuning, etc

Who cares anyway, it's all for fun, and it'll let you know where you stand in the muscle car hierarchy!

Yea, The naaaus, put a 200 shot on it, then race him!!!

I assume you are talking Drag racing :2nd: - you do not have a chance on any road course. You are going to get spanked unless he really screws the pooch on launch.....but it is all in fun right? I can chase down most cars in my 2002 ZO6 even if I cannot buy a decent 60 foot time - and I would get stomped by a 06 ZO6 with a driver that is not asleep...

Rear – 275/40/18
Thats the first problem right there. 500hp and trying to launch on those tires. Your wont go anywhere. Believe me I know. I only have 400hp with those tires and from a dead stop I dont have traction. If you are doing 1/4 mile against this guy and you have no experience, you will get stomped. Now if you were both on a road track you have a little better chance of keeping up but you will still loose. Those 06 ZO6 are bad ass machines and you would need one heck of a car to keep up on a drag strip or even on a road course. But if its just for fun then go for it and get video.
Do it on the track not on the street.

A Z06 with an average driver would absolutely tear your car up. Your car is awesome, but the Z06 is a factory supercar and has a lot of technology in it, weight and weight distribution are a huge factor, much less the 500 horsepower it has.

BTW... i love the Hammer's... I am debating between those wheels and the standard TT2's. Not sure yet if I want to pony up the extra dough that the Budniks command.

Either vette versions for 06 will pull away from you, but I would give it a try and have fun. Go for a ride in the Z06 when done.

WOW! Funny stuff but I'm sure it's accurate. I had a couple of C-5's that seemed like dogs compared to the Camaro but both were auto's and pretty much had highway gearing. The TKO and lot's of tourque have most likely given me a false sense of security/ego.

Anyway thanks for the comments on the ride - almost done and I'll update that site b/c I've changed some things inside.

Thanks - it's not that much more is it???? IMO wheels make or break most cars and their chance of standing out. If not Budniks then some off brand no one sees or has. The look a lot like the Fikse F5 - now the Budniks seem cheap. See it's all a matter of perspective. :hammer:

Try to negotiate like on "Pinks", try to get about 20 cars, lol.

Race him with depreciation. Add 1 years depreciation of the Z06 to your ride in the form of a hairdryer and all kinds of other goodies. Race again. Problem solved.

Its just too bad that C6 Z06 is sooooooo freaking ugly. Hand me a C5 Z06 and let me spend a couple bucks on mods (or an LS7 transplant) and I'd be a much happier person.

Back to the real world though, and your toast.

I personally think the 06 Z06 is the best looking Corvette so far. Just my opinion.

I like the C6 best so far as well. You will get it handed to you though. Not enough cam and too much exhaust. Combine that w/ poor traction and he will be at half track by the time you stop spinning the wheels. I can walk all over C5 Z06s, but have not had it out recently enough to compare to the C6.

The C6 ZO6 is the first Corvette I would even consider since about 1967.

I love the performance....Wow

You guys are crazy. :hammer: The C5 is such a sexy lady... and the C6 is like the same sexy lady, but on steroids, and injected with enough testosterone for a dozen men, as a huge body builder.

Yep. Crazy. Whatever floats your guys boats. LOL. No denying her performance though, especially in sheer... power. :hammer:

I agree, The new c6 ZO6 is absolutely an amazing car for the money. I'd gladly trade my Chevelle for one.

I guess there are not any "fast" 06 Z06's at the drag track I frequent. I have yet to see one get into the 11's. I'm sure they would smoke my 69 camaro at the road course, but I'd run one at the dragstrip anytime (550+hp 406). High mph, but traction challenged, even with whatever drag tires they can get to fit.

I like the vette, but probably would not trade my overweight camaro for one. Especially after putting the smack down on 2 on drag night, and I'm setup to run right at the 11.5 mark so I don't get booted out. 11.5 @ 118+ still gets there sooner than 12.1 @ 120+.

Out of 5 different 06 standard vettes, I've only seen 2 get into the 12's. Again, traction issues, but the mph tells me they should run mid 12's.

I'd get some stickier tires if possible, and give him a qtr mile run. You MIGHT be suprised. I think it would be closer than most folks think.

do it, race 'em, (on the track of course), film it, post it. LOVE IT!!!
who care's who wins unless you are racing for pink slips!

With that combo Vs. the Vette he's got it... if he can hook and is even a little bit of a good driver.
I have that cam in my 406 below.DA was 1800', and 82*.

I saw an 06 ZO6 turn 12.1 at ~120 at South GA Motorsports drag strip on the Hot Rod Power Tour on Monday. He smoked a Ford GT by the way.....

It was HOT and traction seemed to be an issue.

Borrow some slicks or at least some et streets, set to 13 lbs, do a nice looong burnout, be the first off the line, and pray he gets no traction, and you could very well beat him to the stripe.

I say a resounding-heck yes, race the dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I will. Charley likes to do the open track days and although a new Z06 makes it easier to drive on a track it will still be a blast. He wants me to use an older car so I "learn more"!
