I just finished up my wheel tubs, all done except for the final welding and the dressup after the welds. I went the panel bond route instead of welding for these parts
Flange for DSE tub to meet the outer tub
Side of DSE tub where it sits flat against the frame rail
Front of tub where it sits flat against the rocker panel.

The rest of the parts will be welded, specifically the coil-over crossmember to wheel tub area.

I was initially going to just bond the main flange, and weld the rest in, but I couldn't ignore the large surface contact area of the frame rail to the tub, which is perfect for bonding. The benefits are:

Increased strength. The large contact area of the panel bond adhesive will be far stronger than multiple spot welds.
Corrosion protection. The entire area being bonded will be free from moisture and corrosion.
Cleaner install. No welds to dress and less sparks flying inside my front seats and carpet of the car.

Bad side: It's there for keeps. no drilling about spot welds, no air chisel, no nothing. both sides of the metal will have to be removed if I ever want to pull these out.

Whistler, I've never seen this stuff before. Can you provide the specifics of the adhesive you used? Do you have experience using this stuff on other cars? Very curious.

The body shop I work closely with is begining to use epoxy adhesives more and more for various applications, including bonding, as is done here. The stuff is getting really, really good.

There are a few manufacturers, but the stuff I used was 3M PN 8115. The first time I used it was to fix a Z06 hit in the front. The inner fenders are bonded onto the frame rails. Then a few years ago, I converted an LS1 Z28 into a targa roof, and used this bond adhesive to stick the carbon fiber roof skin to the side latches.

That was also easier than welding. Now how do i get this stuff off of my hands?
