I've got my car in paint prison, trying to finalize everything. The wheels I like most are the American Racing Rebels http://www.americanracing.com/wheels/details.asp?wheelid=221&name=Rebel%20Black&style=399&desc=1-piece%20painted/machined%20alloy§ion=A in chrome, but they're only offered in 17x9 and I dont think that'll fit in the front of my stock '67 subframe. I also like the sportmax wheels, like these. https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif. does anyone have an economical suggestion for me? I want 17's all the way around, they must have a good sized polished/chrome lip around the outside. dark silver inside is fine, too.
any suggestions?
i'd appreciate it

For my 68 camaro I like the rebels too. However I went to the summit store below atlanta this weekend and looked at the rebels close up. They are much bigger in person than the internet pic makes them out. I would like them in 17x8 and 18x11 to run 245's up front and 315's in the back. I believe what we want and economical don't really go together in the same sentence. I'm gonna keep looking so maybe we can help each other out. That or try and shoehorn those 17x9's on the front. I'm also considering these wheels from american eagle but again they don't have the right sizes.

they're beautiful wheels, and very inexpensive for what they are.. I might give up some turning radius for them... let me know if you find anything else. I'm going to email american racing to see if they can get them in 17x8... i know some 4th gen guys want wider than 18x10, too. I'd been considering them for about 6 months, but I knew i had to have them when I saw this pic... they've got the perfect amount of lip, and the right pro-touring style.. :jump:

yes wheel spacers front and back..
If I get the spacing to the lip PERFECTLY (I can machine the spacer to get perfect backspacing), how bad would it be to do a 17x9 with a 245 tire?
steve, my mom and I had a falling out after she didnt get my visa set up, I'm staying stateside for now. PM sent.

I guess I could use the 18x10 rebels on the back because I'm gonna be getting a comp engineering 9 in housing. I can just get the rear cut to fit without spacers. What size tire can go on the 17x9 for the front without scrubbing. I'd really like to get away from spacers. What about custom a arms that are longer than stock. By the way the car is 68 camaro. stock front suspension.

Olly, I like the ROH Drift R or Modena with black centers. I think they are priced pretty good as well:

thanks, rybar. I'll check them out. 68ls1, you gotta use wheel adapters.. not spacers. 2" on the front, and if you're getting a custom width rear, about 5" wider, it'll fit fine.

Have you found any wheels yet? I'm still looking but haven't found anything to fit my budget.

olly - where are you looking at getting your wheel spacers from? I've been toying with the idea of using spaces instead of having a set of wheels custom cut. It just makes everything easier down the road if you ever wanna sell the wheels, or you damage one and need a replacement.
I read an article on the G/28 in PHR that used wheel spacers from Motorsport Technology (http://www.popularhotrodding.com/tech/0512phr_g28/index.html), but I'm sure there's other manufacturers. They said in the article that they paid $160 for a pair of spacers. I've been told by Discount Tire that American Racing charges about $100/wheel for custom backspacing. So you spend ~$320 for a set of wheel spacers, or you spend ~$400 to get custom wheels made. To me it seems better to be able to throw another set of off-the-shelf wheels on the car sometime down the road as opposed to having to order a new custom wheel.

I like the bozeforged boost wheels.
Those are one of my favorite wheels, along with the Octane / Hi Octane. I called them and got a quote, but they were way out of my price range :crying:
