I am trying to get a load of caps ready for SEMA I need to get your opinions on which ones we should make. Please look at the pictures below and vote for the one you like. Also, feel free to let me know what you think by replying to this.

Thanks again all!

The first style would require you cutting a few inches off your stock filler and putting a 45 degree hose between your stock filler and the filler body. It would also involve drilling a new hole pattern if your filler panel which is easy to do. All you will need to do is place the cap where in the car and drill through the existing holes in the cap for the screws. I have done this on my car and it was easy to do. The kit would come with a cap, a hose, hose clamps, a template to cut your stock filler pipe and a drill bit. All pretty simple to do. The body of the filler will be permanently mounted to the car and only the flip cap will come come off when filling.

The second style will fit just like a stock cap and will come off just like the stock cap during filling. It has a face that is a little thicker then the third style and the face has more of a radius on it. This requires no installation. Just remove your stock cap and pop this one on.

The third style is just like the second except it's a little thinner and the face has less of a radius on it. It also does not require any installation.

Ill be the first to say that I think the main reason people are voting for the 1st one is because of the appearance. They are all great designs but to be honest, the built in key hole is not attractive. Depending on the price,, I have been wanting to put one of these on my 69 since I heard you were making them. Hopefully they will be ready some time next year. :woot:

Larry, I would be down to pick up one of the flush mount kits for the 67 if you were to make those! That looks sweet!

How much would you be looking at selling the kit for? Guesstimates?

Hi Larry, finally, The flush mount ones are so much nicer looking. The keyed ones look like an adverage off the shelf version...no offense.

I really dig the keyless look. Honestly I would by one for Monsoon if you made them like version 1.

Hey Larry...#1 for sure.

BTW, I am still in the market for one of your caps, but my car is closing in on completion. Do you have an ETA for marketing them to the public? I'll shoot you an email.

How much for style one? I voted for it but like the other two if the key hole was not there. Could it be made to look like the number one and have a flip out latch that you use to remove and replace it?

Also with style one, can you place the Fuel Nozzle from the gas pump all the way into it and fill the car or does it block it so you have to hold on to it and possibly spill fuel on the tail panel?

Thanks
Joe

How were the caps received by the people at the SEMA show? I am sure there was a great response. I am definitely interested in buying one for my '68 Camaro when they become available! Please keep us posted!
thanks,
Matt

Everyone I spoke to loved it. In fact I spoke to the guy that is making them for me today. It looks like the design should be complete by the end of this week. I can't wait!

That's great! Do you have a back log of orders already? I'm sure there's a lot of interest. What will you be the cost of each design? I'm still very interested.

No back orders yet. I hope to order 100 pcs for the first lot so, I think that should be enough for a while.

How Much for them?

Realisticly though larry 1 & 3 are winners. #3 may be the cheap way out, but that puppys a money maker. You'll sell far more to the mass public than you will kit #1. There are posers out there. And they buy parts like crazy. You'd be crazy not to make parts to sell to them.

I second Tony's comments.....

Just for a reference point, the first one looks almost identical to the unit I bought last week for my car, except that the outer piece is radiused whereas mine is flat. The cap itself is exactly the same. I bought mine from Aircraft Spruce, they seemed to have the best price for the cap at $149, without hose and clamps, etc. Fuelsafe, and Earl's also sell them. That should give you a price point for competitive estimates. It is nice, by the way, really nice.

Good stuff, Larry. Best of luck with it, these are hard to find.
