I need help! Chevy + diesel

Did chevy put a diesel motor in the 1967-1972 chevy pickups? If so, what?

If not, has anyone ever put a chevy diesel motor(I don't care what year chevy diesel, but the dura max would be cool) in a 1967-1972 chevy (single cab short bed) pickup truck? Does anyone know what motor mounts to use or transmission? Does anyone have information for me, please?

Diesel motors = big weight !
I had a buddy in highschool that stuck a Older GM Diesel motor in a 1962 4-Door Ford Galaxie (true story). H eactually got it to run, but the front suspension wasnt able to handle the weight of the motor.

Saw one on vacation this summer. Black standard cab shorty fleetside. 6.6Duramax running 36psi. Killer ride thats for sure.

No diesels from the factory in those years, BBC where the hot ticket back then. Duramax would be a neat option, but are very heavy. Make for strange handling and absolutely no traction.

Nice thing is with some add-ons they can make some sick power. It would be cool to see someone put one in a Musclecar-era wagon.

Do you know what motor mounts, tranny, or any parts he may have used to get that truck together?

A diesel block is heavier/stronger than a reg. gas block, due to the higher compression. They also have hugh oil pans, which adds weight. My 2002 Ford Excrsion which has the 7.3L Powerstroke takes 16 quarts of oil !!!

Go check a duramax motor at your local truck wrecking yard, big motor. I have an 87 diesel suburban that I bought new and I put a 6.5 with a banks turbo kit on it a few years ago, sure woke it up. I am up to 260.000 miles on the sub thus far.

The new Duramax with the variable vane turbo is rated at 365HP and 750ft lbs...add a Bullydog style chip and it would kick the crap out of most of today’s factory super cars. I believe Banks had last years running low 12’s with a few simple and cheap bolt-ons.

That factory rating blows away our Caterpillar 3126 in the Kenworth service trucks we run. Don't discredit todays diesel technology.
