68 Camaro tire and wheel size?

I already checked the data base.
I would just like some other opinions..
A friend of mine just bought a 68 Camaro with stock suspension.
He will more than likely leave it that way :sleeping:
However he is looking to upgrade the wheels and tires.
He is not looking to push the envelope and risk tire rub etc.
probably looking to go with 17's or 18's
What size tires and wheels should he look at for the front and rear.
Please include backspacing numbers as well..

i have 245 40 17 on the front and 275 40 17 on the rear.
