Hi,

Just a brief intro..... Im building an Ultima GTR with a Magrnacharged LS2. The engine was put together for me by Jeff Schwartz of http://www.schwartzperformance.com/. I'm originally from OZ but have been living and working in Hong Kong, for just over 12 years and decided it was time to get back to the days of greasy, cut hands, hence the GTR. Most people build the GTR with SB engines and get around emissions testing, but in Hong Kong we have to pass EURO4 emissions testing, which is the same as the Calif. standards, so I was "forced" to use a modern engine. I've learnt a shedload about the LS in the process and am now stoked that I was "forced" to go this way.

Jeff put the LS2 together and dyno'd it for me.... check the numbers http://storage.msn.com/x1poX_nVzrJvrcuXJUF6W9CyH05whXYC7ustBXtjJNXhWtA4oI fcBF1vnn8Z4bTYesXvsF5hPACzMKBKZLH5A24P-fKB-IL3fFB4RXPvhwREAK4Xn71Gb3aGh5awuU0xhT9ClYQeZtJatc ...

Count on about $10k-$15k for the transaxle according to Jeff.

My transaxle was about 8K.... its a G50-01 (1987-89 model) with a new first gear and an LSD. Stock 1st gear was 3.818, and with 3.44 diff its unusable.... first is now 3.0. I did Power Tour with Jeff Schwartz in his car this year, he also has the 3.0 first and it was perfect.

Im hoping to be able to get the cash together and time my work so I can bring my GTR over for Power Tour next year, hopefully I can, and hopefully I can convince Jeff to bring his TT'd 6.6 litre beast too. I think driving a right hand drive GTR on your roads will really freak some people out.... two GTRs together, one TT'd 1000hp and one Magnacharged 600hp...... hang on, that doesnt sound fair does it.

Ever since he unveiled the TT engine for his car I keep having these crazy thoughts about twincharging mine......I know he only did the TT because he was jealous :bananna2: (hope you're watching Jeff) and now Im jealous of his TT setup.....

The car should be on the road in January and I'll upload some good pics then.

OK guys, I'm threatening to bring my Ultima GTR over from Hong Kong for the Power Tour. If I do, I'll leave it in the USA for a few months and come and do some other shows etc.... but first Ive gotta work out how to do this:

Ive spoken to a shipping agent and Im waiting for some answers, in the meantime. Do any of you guys know anyone that has actually temporarily imported a car to the USA for personal use like this. (I need to hear from experience, not opinions.)

Customs and Tax
That should be OK, I can get a carne de passage which will get around the tax issues http://www.export911.com/e911/export/ata.htm

Licencing
The car is right hand drive. Will I have to get any inspections done.

As for the interior.... if any of you have seen Ken's car you'd know why he said that - his car is a stripped out racer, he doesnt have AC.. not even grills in the sides... he's stripped it completely for racing.... its a mean looking machine.. here's some shots of it at HRPT '06.. the black one.

check out some sites on expedition travel. I have seen quite a few british land rovers and such with their right hand drive vehicle over here for 6 months of travel. no US plates or anything.

Still sorting out a few issues before I really get on it.
