Sanden 508, now you have to pick which goofy bracket you want to run

Street and Performance probably has a bracket that you can use.

They do but it moves high on the passenger side. Kit around $600.00 last time I checked a couple years ago.

Can you use the factory compressor that is used on the ls1?

No, the VA system and the GM system are variable pressure systems, It would work for alittle bit, and then the system would grenade itself, thats what I was told by a reputable VA installer,

Steilow built a bracket system for a Sanden, but I don't know what pully he used,

Vinatge air makes a bracket that puts it back in the stock location. It came with the kit ordered from Detroit Speed.

They must have finally come out with it, awhile ago the sent me a pic of a so called proto type, I wasn't really that impressed with it, but I'll check it out now,

S&P sells one that mounts a Sanden in the original Fbody location,(lower right) but moves it forward to miss their motor mount plates. It deletes the original A/C belt and runs off the front belt.

It will work on a stock subframe but you will need to notch it a bit.

If you go to www.hotrodlane.cc (http://www.hotrodlane.cc) they have an online cataloge. I think it is on page 60 but not sure. I am using the system that retains the stock GM bracket (fbody) for the power steering and pump.

Tell me what you would like to see and I will get you a shot

So, you still need to make a cut out, anybody see the on MarkS used on X he made his own, but I think you need to add another pully to the hub.

I just finished helping a freind with an ls1 conversion in a 66 Chevelle which we used the Vintage Air A/C bracket. The comp.did fit in the stock location, but I had to build custom alt. and tensioner brackets, which moved the alt. to pass side top to get it away from the steering box.I tried that A/C bracket set up on my 68 Camaro, and it didn't come close to fitting, but I am running an aftermarket sub frame.Looks like I going to be building some custom A/C and idler brackets.

before I switched to the 21st piece. Notched the subframe and it fit just fine. I was using the F body stuff that sits out further than the vette stuff.

Do you have a picture? What motor mounts did you use?
Thanks Randy

I could not find any photos because I changed direction and went with the 21st Century subframe. I did not like the way the oil pan hung 3/4 of an inch below the cross member so I raised the motor 3/4 in the car. I had to notch the subframe and cut an ear off of the compresor but it fit just fine. again I was using an f body balancer that is an inch or so futher away from the motor than a vette harmonic. I am sure there are other ways of doing it as some other companies have come out with brakets that use the really small compressor like on the front runner system.

What balancer and crank pulley are you running?
