My dads stock Subaru Legacy GT beat a duramax diesel with 140grand into it. From the 6inch lift, custom rear aluminum axle, wheels, diffs, brakes, bigger turbo, chip, intake, exhaust, propane injection, etc...

Boy was that a fun race. I bogged it in 1st but managed to shift my ass off and stay in front!

Its amazing what a AWD turbo car can do off the line. Takes quite a bit to catch up!

You just have to laugh it off. I really don't get too excited about how fast this or that is. There is always somebody with a faster car or more money into it. I really only care how quick my car is. I know what I have done to it and have my own expectations of how it should perform. I know there are plenty of imports that can hand my azz to me. Not saying I like it, but... What i loved most was when i was stuck with a total ricer kid and we got talkin abt my car and nothing really seemed to make sence to him but then when he found out my vw bus has a porsche 914 engine in it he busted a nut, a 914 is 3 more than 911 so it must be faster!!!!

The cure for this is so easy and I have even done it myself a couple years ago. Tell the ricer that thinks his car is extremely fast to go to the local test and tune drag strip. You run yours and see the time. Then allow him to run his and see the time. They usually shut up right away. I did this a couple years ago to a guy with an extremely fast LOOKING honda. I honestly thought his car would haul ass. He had a lot of visual upgrades including a ram air hood, ground effects, exhaust. The car seriously looked fast. He ran down the track with a good clean run and ran something like a 18.2. This next part is no joke. He looked at us after picking seeing his slip and he left the track. Never got out of his car or anything. He simply left. This was back when I was running low 13's on street tires.
On the opposite side of this story there was a different guy there that had a sleeper with small slicks. We all about crapped ourselves when he pulled a high 12!!!! We found out he had a turbo and quite a few other upgrades. After his 2nd run he broke something on the tranny causing it to leave a huge puddle of tranny fluid right on the line.
Just like Jsapata said, you really have to watch out for the EVo's and the WRX STI. THose cars wil crush ours off the line. They have AWD and are easily capable of low 13 second runs bone stock on street tires. Very fast cars even stock.

Ran in to a guy with an Audi AWD Turbo. Very sharp looking car, nice stance, wheels bigger brakes etc. Just done up nice and not tacky. We got to talking, I respect some of the guys, but he wasnt a bragger by any means. So I asked him honestly how well the car launched and he said whole heartedly that he can dump the clutch at just about max RPM and the thing would just hook and go. he said it was insane and that he had tried his best to get the car to light the tires and although it would break loose a bit, it basically just flat out launched! I would hate to run in to an AWD on the street or the track! Unless you pull HARD in the mid to upper R's, you will get your ass handed to you in a muscle car!

And btw, I hate the punks with the fart cans and HUGE tach on the dash in plain view that think they are the fastest thing to ever hit the street with no other mods. Theyre typically the ones speeding through traffic.

hey dont forget as our cars are getting more valuable. that import is going down in value. after you mod an import you realy narrow the people you can sell to. just tell the guys to give you the money so you can have the pleasure of flushing it down the toliet.

I like smoking imports more then anything. These fools in there STI's that cant even handle any mods before the Tranny gives way on them. Not to mention they cant launch THAT hard cause they will store all the energy in there center diff just for it to slam together almost like a nuetral drop in an automatic...

The best thing in the world is pulling up in the TTA and being like ya its only a v-6 firebird!!! Plus with the money i have in my suspension i can out corner my buddies 05 STI no problem!!! Only thing he has on me is the brakes! and he doesnt out stop the 1LE by that much!

back to the topic if you think your fast someone will always be faster, rice rocket or not. people love to bench race that goes for Hot Rods too! every car has its advantages and disadvantages... no car is perfect!

We have a SRT-4 at work 13.7 in the 1/4 all smog legal stock with a $700 stage 1 upgrade from the dealer... has air condition too... i and will sit all day long in traffic and never over heat! i know someones saying my car will too.... dude its a new car.. nothing beats the ride and comfort of a new car... im sorry.

and AWD cars... again like some have said here already it is very easy to be spanked by one of those STIs or Evos... don't get too cocky... those are no different the how a AWD typhoon or cyclone will hook up.... you say they brake down all the time... well hate to say it.... so can your car. you can't tell me no ones ever torn up a tranny, had a stuck neddle and seat, a MSD box or coil go out, a fuel pump or broke something? its no differant.

cost? i hear it all the time it cost so much to make those cars go fast! again sign of the times guys... parts are getting cheaper all the time for the kinds of cars? people laugh at these guys buying these intakes for their car to get 3 hps if that... hey no differant the you buying a K&N filter? plus since when is it cheap to build any kind of car.

also i just don't understand so many hot rod guys are fixated on hondas.... hondas have been dead for years! ever heard of a 2JZ, RB26? EJ20? SR20? how about a rotory? maybe? maybe not? trust me there are some killer rice motors that can kick some ass! if you say they cant hook up well half the pro tour cars can't either. again no differant.

Thats the perfect example of rice. Put something on your car (a badge, sticker, wing, etc) that gives the illusion that your car is faster than it is.

It's like cloning a car, but only on the outside. Even worse, when the person attempting to deceive doesnt know enough about the car or parts they are immitating you end up with a Camaro that's cloned into a Hemi Cuda!

Guys and girls trying to make their cars look better, go faster, stop shorter, corner, etc, hell thats what hot rodding is and Irespect all of that, even the annoying rotary crowd (the cars not the peple) Irespect anyone trying to improve performance and learn something.

My problem is most of the rice crowd have crappy attitudes, they don't respect muscle cars and drive like a$$holes period... If I had a nickel for everytime I saw a rice rocket with a 10' wing and coffee can on the back weaving in and out of traffic, even when they're not racing another a$$hole in a rice rocket ... well you know. I even almost had one crash into the back on my Camaro cause he thougth he was cool and decided to speed up behind me and dash into the other lane just before he rearended me. He would have been real cool breathing through his muffler for the rest of his life....
