I think that's a bridge that was recently built in the south of France. It was on the Discovery Channel on that Extreme Engineering show.

Bill,
Thats a new suspension bridge being built in France. I saw an interesting show about it on Discovery Channel or a similar station. They actually built the road sections on land and then used huge hydraulic jacks to slide the road bed into position on the pre-built towers. Check out this web page:

See you @ the Year One Event!

I love that extreme engineering show. I saw the bridge episode as well. the way they used the hydraulic jacks to lift/slide/lower the bridge a couple inches at a time was pretty cool.

Thanks guys, this was posted on a local board, but I just knew some of our smarter members would know the answer. I will pass it on. I bet, btw, a trip around that bridge at 75 or so would be exciting.

I must be twice as old as you, so it would all work out the same.....lol
That would be a cool ride if you could get your underwear out of your butt afterward!
Not to mention the vinyl/leather/cloth from your seats.

The interchange at 85/285 in Atlanta has a fairly high bridge at it. I have been over it at 75 and that was pretty exciting. Now, this bridge has no side walls much and much much higher. You would have the feeling you were actually flying, not driving. At 150, I would want some wings.....

Still a very extreme engineering project.

It actually does have wind screens, its just they were designed to not interfere with the view. In fact when they designed it the flying feeling is what they were going for. If you get a chance to, catch the rerun of the extreme engineering show.

Yeah, and I remember hearing somewhere about issues with high winds on that bridge that they had to design around. Heh... "High" winds on a tall bridge. Go figure.

I think that is the Chessapeke Bay Bridge/Tunnel? It looks a lot bigger when you are in an aircraft carrier floating out to sea? (Family Day, too cool!)

The Confederation Bridge in Eastern Canada is closed quite often because of wind conditions. It's not a good place to go swimming.

Is that the one that goes over to Prince Edwards Island? If so, I have been across it. Very long as I remember, several miles, right?
