Maybe I just seek attention, but I was checking out the members rides on Lateral-g.net and I saw the HRSS1.
I'm pretty sure I might get "flamed" or someone will make me a huge list (probably numbered) off all of the OBVIOUS differences. But check this out!
I know there is a HRSS1 built, but the drawing of the concept and the concept Camaro have some general similarities that to my UNTRAINED eye seem to make them close cousins.

thats gotta be the funniest thing ive heard in a long time. and in regards to the similarities between the two cars, do a search and look for the actual HRSS1. it looks nothing like the camaro concept. matter of fact it doesnt look like much of anything except an experiment in bad body kit design.

The book 'All Corvettes Are Red' documents in detail the story of the development of the C5 Corvette. Some of you guys might be quite surprised to know how close the Corvette came to being axed a number of times during the development process.
Unfortunately, nothing at GM is safe these days.

This is also when GM had their head so far up their.... They are now finally getting it pulled out and starting to see the light.

I agree (although I feel I shouldnt comment on anyones effort other than my own) that the "actual" HRSS1 doesnt look anything like the concept Camaro.
But to me, again just a regular every day guy (edit: does not work in the automotive field), the 3/4 view of the HRSS1 concept and the Camaro concept look similar. I did say cousins, not the same exact car.

I'd really like to read that book. Seems a little weird that they would be close to killing the Corvette, then turn around a pour millions into a factory backed racing effort.

Does anything GM does make sense? They starve Oldsmobile of cash until they are almost dead... then, once they give them some cash, and Olds was actually on its way back, they kill the, off. I hope that both GM and Ford get their stuff together and soon, but sometimes they really worry me! I mean, come on! Look at the new Buick LeCross, they spend a fortune on a new design, making quite a nice car, and all they advertise is the wiper fluid! :grouphug: Someone just doesn't think up there! They need an ad showing the CSX (or whatever the sporty version is called) driving through all sorts of cool curvy roads, kind of like a BMW ad, then when they pull into the driveway, the guy in the passenger seat says something like "wow.... and you say this is a Buick?" Maybe the guy in the driver's seat says something like "Yeah, cool eh?"
Then again, I'm not an advertising expert!

rocketman...for future reference, I'm going to clue you in on how much dealerships are "in the know" when it comes to GM's business.
ZERO. End of story.
Next time you see your friend, tell him that Crystal Meth is bad and can cause brain damage.

I was a co/op student at Design Center when Jim Schefter was there camping out in Corvette Studio. Cafaro and Jordan hated that idiot. When Cherry took over in '94, he and Palmer routinely had him escorted out of the studio a number of times for butting his head in but corporate INSISTED that he be there because they thought it would be a good story to drum up publicity for GM. He was a headache the whole time he was there. I've read his book as have a bunch of others who were there. That stuff about the cancellation was all fabricated by him. That was never dicussed nor will it EVER be discussed. Corvette is the flagship of GM. Why...in the name of GOD would we even entertain the idea of cancelling it?
Think about it. No seriously....take off your shoes....lay down on the couch ....close your eyes....and really think about it. Take as much time as you need. We'll be right here waiting when you get done.
haha breath Tony breath. i think we do all appreciate what insider info you and the others can share with us from time to time. theres so much that so many of us who love GM cars don't nor will ever know. so thanks for sharing what you can i appreciate it as do many others im sure.
as for the original post. i can see the similarities in the two pictures you showed. however i agree the actual car to car comparison shows basically nothing.
