Power Steering pump issue

I had a somewhat hairy situation arise that I could use some input on. I just added a Flaming River Vpower 14 to 1 steering box to my car. All was well the first few times I drove it and I definately like the feel of the new box. My pump is a Summit GM saginaw unit and I have Hydroboost. While making a slow corner in traffic I lost both power steering and power brakes. They came back almost as quick as they left, but did it again a few minutes later. I pulled the pump down and found no internal problems. I was expecting to find small bits of trash but none were obvious. Has anybody else had a similar issue with the use of a fast ratio box and hydroboost used together? There may have been a heat factor as it was about 80 and I was in stop and go traffic.
