I just watched a 69 silver camaro, described as a protouring car sell for $100k. It had a ZL-1 454 (serial#1) in it for power. Baer brakes, nice looking car except for the hidious 4-6 inch cowl hood. I love it, our style is coming into its own. This makes me think more about maybe taking a certain poncho to Arizona next January.
would you really want to get rid of it so soon though? sure it allows you to build something else, but you need to enjoy it for a little while before you move on.
I have seen several that they refered to as pro-touring. Why aren't the owners of these cars members here?

The car you saw was built here in town. it was thrown together in 40 days. Actually, I ended up with a project that got shoved out to do this car. guy offered the shop $40,000 labor in 40 days, $1000 a day to do it, and the shop owner told everyone else to F off! Car looked thrown together, (who am I to talk, LOL!), but did make the entire power tour. Sad part is the owner droped dead a month later. Guess at least he got to live his dream. Anyway, the car is a neat car, and I am really happy to see it bring that kind of money.

Speaking of selling cars quickly I know that we have built a few cars over the years that after they are done you step back and say yep that looks awesome and it is exactly what I "thought" I wanted and then end up selling it 4 or 5 months later to do something different. It's just how it works out sometimes.

Our group of Camaros met the owner/driver of that car during Power Tour last year, and he cruised with us on a couple legs of the tour headed into Florida. Ate dinner with us twice. Sad to hear he passed away, seemed like a happy guy and had good taste in cars.
btw, he tried to race me on the highway once, his car couldn't hang with ol' Extreme G ;)

That is the one. The hood is up, but it had ZL1454 serial#001 on the cowl in black.

dang, sorry to hear that the owner died. He wasn't very old, maybe mid 50s.

I saw it on the pt also. It was a nice car but definately not $100 grand quality IMO! Paint was really splochy with the metallic and some other stuff. But still nicer than mine! LOL!

he told us a long detailed story about the ZL1, and how he ended up with it. I think he also said he had ZL1 #2 for a future project. Guess that won't happen now.
Moral of the story: enjoy life while you have it, you could be gone tomorrow.

He was parked next to the Mule on one of the stops. My wife reminded me that there was a kid about maybe 10 years old with them that either the owner or the resto guy just treated like crap the whole time.

I know where ZL1 number 4 is! In my garage waiting for the right '69 donor car/shell. I'm determined to keep the stock cowl hood that might require a manifold change?

I had to trim the forward part of my hood to clear a ASM TPI, the ram jet should fit with the same mods.
