SO have you ever had one of those occasions when u know it is by the grace of God that you are still alive??? Well I had one of those last night at speed world. I and the crew from Prodigy Customs went to the track to get some real 1/4 slips on the camaro. It happened on the second run of the night. I got a good burn out in and launched hard pulling the front tires off the ground . So I made the run with no problems but when I came back to the staging lines is when I got scared. A guy told me hey I think u got some lugs loose that right front tire looks off, it wobbling ... So when I checked I found that I only had 2 lugs still attached to the car! The others had snapped off on that last run.....:pat: !!!!! So i thought about it and I was running through the traps at 112 mph on two lugs!!! OH ya I know everyone one will want to know the times... it went 12.23 and 12.22 @ 112... still .15 slower than I was running at my home track but still decent times for a new combo.....

That scares the $#!& out of you, but I will be from now on, everytime you make a pass you will go over a safety checklist. If you don't have one now, you should make one up. Fighter Pilots don't do that for the fun.

Glad everything turned out OK... And a 12.22 is a solid time.

Dang that is very scary! That remindes me of the time I was in my 79 blazer and the rear bearings were so bad they cut the axle in half. I was soooo lucky. How lucky? Well I was pulling up to a stop light at about 15 mph when I saw my tire roll past me. That was just after I got off the highway doing at least 75mph.
My only other cheat with death was in my 67 chevy when both rear torsion bars snapped at the same time from rust and I flew off the road at 110 mph. Scary as hell but I limped home and replaced the rear with leafs.

ok this is one of those stupid things I did when I was a kid. My cousins and I all had quads. we also had an old go-kart with a busted motor and no brakes. we'd take turns pulling each other behind one of the quads. one of my turns being pulled down a wooded trail a limb was kicked up and lodged into my chest. it cut through my jacket and shirt. luckily it stuck into the skin over my breast bone instead of hitting me lower in the abdomin I got away with a few stiches. ( proof of my youthful stupidity, I rode the kart again. )

Yep, thats scary! I was putting longer studs in my rotors, long story short lugs weren't centered and stripped out 4 new studs 4 new lugs, So no Sunday Funday for me, Moroso studs don't have a long enough knurl going to trysome Dormans, wish I would have come out to see you run,

I cheated death but not in a car. I was working at a substation for the power company. I am still working for same company. It was Jan 6, 1993 late afternoon we were working on a denergized 12,000 volt breaker. After all of the work was finished and tests were done it was around 6 pm. We came out of a flourescent lit building to button everything up. My partner went to our truck and the other two went to theirs to get some tools to finish. When I arrived at the bottom of the breaker that I THOUGHT I had been climbing all afternoon. I was 9 1/2 feet to the left and climbed to the top of an energized 12,000 breaker. That is when all hell broke loose.:drive2: After 93 days in the burn center, 15 surgeries and a about 6 months of rehab. I am back at work. The final result- amputation of R-hand, L arm to shoulder, 4th and 5th toes of R foot and finally a 6 x 9 burn to my left thigh. I even got married while I was in hospital. We were going to get married in May of that year anyway. I also have 2 great children 12 and 7. Divorced after the workman's comp checks stopped coming and her free ride was over.:headbang: I am still a car buff. I own a 69 w/454 and every chance I get, I will go show it and raise cane on the way there and back. So for now it is my kids, myself and my 69, we are fine!!!!

Lets just say the only good day of my life was the day I was born. After that it was all down hill. I was not expected to leave to hospital at birth. Then it was 6 months, 2years, age of 4, 7, 10. Once I was old enough to understand what was happening to me I stopped caring how long the doctors thaught I would live. code blue's too many to remember, Clinicly dead 2-3 not sure the doctors don't always tell you. I got my lungs transplanted a little over four years ago. 20 hours of surgery in a 48 hour period. They esentialy had to do the operation twice. Hours after they thaught they finished they did x-rays and found out the almost all of the attachments did not hold. If it could go wrong it did. There were a couple days when the doctors did nothing becasue there was nothing else to try. Once again I dumbfound the doctors and 2 1/2 months icu 1 1/2 of witch drug induced comba, another month of ventalator ,learn to walk again, O by the way your diabetic now and hears your tacklebox full of pills three times a day.

But all is good now sord of. My day to day is great compared to what it was but the daily upkeap and the frequent hospitlizations are a bit of a drag. :injured:

I've never truely cheated death like some of the amazing stories here. But I should have. God must like stupid young punks, cause I had my days. I'm really carefull now, I know my dumb luck can't possibly last forever.

I've ran through red lights in rush hour at high rates of speed after boiling the brake fluid running best 2 out of 3 in a street race.
I've come around a tight corner in a rural area at around 120 to find a tractor with a 2 lane wide harrow filling all the road. I've lost side mirrors multiple times on the tow rig running wide open to make it to the track on time. I've hunted with idiots with assault rifles that make Cheney look like a gun safety expert.
I've TWICE lost an axle in a high speed highway run on a car with rear drums and single piston master cylinder - once IN a corner at 130.
I've run across the fishing lines of a boat full of bikers near sturgis trying to tune an outboard at WOT and drive it at the same time.
I've got drunk with a crazed vet with a jar full of ears, and then argued war politics with him.
All before the age of 18.
Now I've got two sons as stupid as their father. Which surely means I'll die of heart failure.
