I am planning on running wider rims and tires and I am wondering just how close I can place the tire to the leaf spring and be safe from rubbing on corners and stuff?
The tires will be 45 series and I will have a rear sway bar also on a 70 Charger RT.

With 17's or 18's you can get as close as 3/8". Ive had them at 1/4" with no problems. If your setting it up from scratch go with a half.
Remember to watch out for the upper inner wheel house lip...you should be at least 3/4" away minimum from that. Your wheel will kilter up and in during certain manuvers.
Outer lip can be fairly close too...i've been a 1/4" with little/no rubbing. Again depending on the suspension being used.

Yep, I will be running 18 inch tires. It seem the upper inner wheel well is the same distance from the wheel as the leaf spring.
Thanks guys!
