I am cornfused. Where is the rest of it? There are no people in it either. Look at all those kids standing around. I bet that is a 'prop' for teaching them not to drive drunk or something like that.
Maybe it was an accident that happened long ago and they left it there as a reminder.

Wouldn't the tree look a little more abused? I would think the force of hit like that would uproot or break a tree of that size. I'm leaning toward "prop"

Yeah... for a car to litterally be wrapped around a tree like that, I'd think the tree would have to be a pretty significant specimen (i.e. big). That tree just isn't, and a car going fast enough to do that would probably do some serious damage to a tree that size.

Next time some hippie gives you guff about driving an SUV and tells you that you ought to be driving something more economical, send em those photos.

I have seen a tree that a car was wrapped around, there was only a bit of bark scuffed off.
Launch a straw fast enough and it will stick into a wood fence post.

Here's the text from the email:

1) Overall, the cars are in much better condition because of tough inspection
2)Licenses are much harder to get, with better driving training
3) The autobahn speed limit is "whatever's safe" up to 155 mph

Maybe the pics ae deciving becaue there is no front clip. The clip was probably cut in order to gain access to the humans. Imagine the front part of the car in place and the car looks more "U-shaped--more believable

I also think its a prop considering that in the first and last pic u can see the black bars holding the front end(what there is of it) and the door up off of the ground. Also, if it were a real accident, the rest of that car would have been peeled off the tree and used as evidence. I don't see them leaving it there. Plus it's not an accident scene anyways, no emergency vehicles, nobody in uniform, just a bunch of tourists and/or locals.

I saw a larger res photo before and those are seat belts. The article said it happened 2 days earlier and these are his friends coming to pay their respects. Alot can happen when your doing ludicrous speed on a wet highway.

that's not the autobahn, speed limit there is about 50 or even less...I think that was in the UK though, I remember those pics from a couple of years ago.
