Aww shucks.. twasn't nuthin...
Don't forget to give Kudos to our amazing freelancers: Vizard, Dulcich and Kim.. they add an lot to the book.
BREAKING PHR NEWS!
Just finishing up the NEW and redesigned July issue of PHR.. So what are the changes???
Over 140 pages
Perfect Bound
Car features are not 7-8 pages
More spreads and bigger pictures
Bigger columns (like speed reading, new products, etc)
And my favorite change... of which I am pretty damn proud..
HUGE Hometown Hotrodding section.. yes, it's true.. not only has if gone from a mostly black and white single page back when I took it over in January to two glorious pages.. but..
Now it's 6 pages and in the center of the book.. The first 3-4 pages will be the usuall readers cars and the last few pages will be "Under Construction" cars.. yep.. if you have a project that never seems to get on the street you too can have your car in the book.. If you have a rendering of the final deal we can do that as well.
Here is how it works for any of the pics in Hometown.. the better composed and HIGHER RES the pic(s) is the BIGGER it will run. I am not at all opposed to giving a page or two to a single car or project if the picture quality warrants it. Invest in a good camera, follow the photo tips in last years and this years photo contest and have fun. My goal is the have the absolute best looking Readers Rides pages ANYWHERE.
Thanks for the compliment Tony.. I will pass it along to Johnny and the crew. Nice to know that people notice the effort.

Well...that does it. I'm sending you some stuff on my clunker. Maybe having it mentioned in the magazine will get the wife off my back about spending money on it.:naughty:
"See honey....they WANT me to finish it".

Yea, go for it.. and take some time doing it.. the better the pic the more ink it will get. :)
And you get the bonus of blaming PHR for your hemoraging of cash on the project car!

Steve1968LS2,
Im sure this will come off as hillarious to most everyone else but in all honesty I cant quite figure out if you work for PHR or not. I believe you do in some capacity judging by the posts of yours that Ive read.
With that being said I have one request (FWIW) if you do work for PHR. Please PLEASE put some more "meat" into otherwise great write ups like the custom aluminum intake article you guys did an issue or two ago. While that article was of particular interest to me I found it provided just enough info to really make me want to start my own intake project but not quite enough detailed info so that your average car guy with a TIG and some common sense could be successful at it. I look around here and see quite a few ppl that seem to me more than capable of just about anything given enough info and the right tools so I bet a two or three part write up on just the construction techniques of a custom alum sheet metal intake would have been well received.
None the less PHR is my favorite right behind GM High Tech (sorry but they have more turbo/FI stuff :) ) and I look forward to a PHR showing up in the mail box once a month. Oh, and thanks for listening to my ramblings too.

Don't worry.. I'm very humble and know that I am one lucky SOB to work where I do. I also know that PHR is good due to a team effort..

Yea, I work there.. I'm the Tech Editor. :)
The story you speak of was written by Stephen Kim. I agree that a story on how to make your own sheet metal intake (SMI) would be cool, but how many people would actually do it? It's tough because you come up with good story ideas and then realize that only 3% of your readers will care.. lol -- again, that is a good story idea though and I will pass it along.
Hey, since I'm a big LSx fan I love GMHTP.. great book so no worries, just happy you read ours as well

It's the price you pay for more pages.. you can only have a mag so big with staples.. I sorta like how stapled mags open also.. easier.

Yeah thanks Steve, can't wait to see the bound versions. That means you guys are gonna have to post higher res photos on line since some of us can't cut them out and hang em...does anyone do that still? I sent you an email just now. V

I understand your point completely and agree. I guess my reasoning for mentioning it is that between the pro-touring crowd, which seems to be populated by hugely capable people, and the syclone/typhoon crowd where most of us are forced to make our own parts due to no aftermarket stuff I forget about the large "Id rather order it and bolt it on" population.
None the less thank you for listening and keep up the great work :) .
(Dunno bout the rest of ya but I feel like for once Ive actually spoken to someone at a company about a problem and they actually listened LOL)

Hmmm.....What drives me crazy with perfect bound is that all the go# @!mn fuc&*#% subsricption cards that mess everthing up, and then when perfect bound you can't even tear them out without ripping an article or picture!!!! At lest with the staples you can get them out nice and clean!!

Would you like some cheese with that???
Perfect bound does have it's limitations.. like no center spread you can just pull out (there will still be car spreads, but you would have to cut them out)..
You should love perfect bound though since it gave us room to include more blue PT Firebirds in the first issue :naughty:
