I have a 67 camaro w/sbc, around 400 hp is the end goal. I have global west subframe connectors, stock height solid body bushings, 2" drop spindles, and DS&E 2" drop rear multi leafs. I have HAL QA1 adjustable shocks all around. I was wondering what setting (1-12) people are using for the rebound knob when using the car on the street and on the track (road race, not drags) Also what springs (I just have a new set of the stock springs) are recommended. One reason I am asking is because I want to set the suspension up correctly for the street for now, and the second reason is because when I am driving and I hit a small shallow in the road on the right side the tire is hitting the fender lip slightly. I have adjusted the rebound to setting #4 but it is still doing it, so I am thinking of going up to 6, but that seems a bit high for the street. Any input is appreciated. Also I went to adjust the left side (driver side) front shock and the adjuster knob will not budge in either direction, any experiences with this? Thanks guys.

I am running them at 4 front and rear but still in the experimenting stage. When I had them at 6 it would make you seasick, the car rode every wallow in the road.
It might be best to solve the rubbing issue another way, You dont want to waste all the nice suspension parts by using a too stiff shock as a band aid.
My shock only has one knob so I can only do compression and rebound at once.
The freaky thing is that my left front adjuster is also an issue, not locked up but it feels gritty when you adjust it.

Hmmm, makes you wonder what it is about that front driver side shock??? I called QA1 yesterday and they said I could return it under warranty and they would send me a new one, but the problem is, this is my daily driver, kinda difficult to just lay her up for a week or so to get the replacement shock sent out... I may need to get the fender lip rolled a bit, but I need to narrow down where exactly this noise is coming from before I go making crazy changes everywhere.

I was going to go inside my fenderwell and use chalk or spray paint but the noise stopped when I changed springs.
Ask them to send you a new shock on your card and refund you when you send the old one back. ??

I have stock de-arched leafs on the rear with QA1 shocks.
EDIT:
5 for the street
6-7 on road course tracks

How easy is it to make the adjustments on the front with the shock inside the spring?

If you`re running stock springs I`d start at 5 in front and 4 in the rear. Mild performance springs (say 500-600lb/in) 6/5 and with 600-700lbs/in 7/6. Then tune from there. Sway bar rates, tires and a lot of other variables have a big effect on what rates will work well for you too.
The adj. knobs on the front shocks are a little tricky to get to at first but once you do it a few dozen times it`s easy. ;) Mark SC&C

Thanks Marcus. If the car seems to oversteer a little with 575 front and 175 springs rear, any thoughts ?

You didn`t mention what you`re running for a front swaybar. If you`ve got oversteer you need to either add some front wheel rate or loose a little rear rate. It may be easier in your case to add some to the front via swaybar. You can also try a click more shock in front and/or a click less in the rear. It shouldn`t be used for gross adjustments but you can use it to tune the chassis initial reactions. Try adj. tire pressures front to rear also. Mark SC&C

1 1/8 bar in front. No bar in rear.

I put some road track miles on these shocks and over 200 miles of street time this weekend. I want to correct my post above. 4 is a little too soft for the street. I set them to 5 on the street and between 6-7 on the road track at Gingerman raceway.
I only have rear shocks right now.
I plan on buying QA1 shocks for the front eventually.
