What is it with some people?

I posted this on another board but I thought I'd share.
I took the Olds out for a Sunday drive up to Point Defiance State Park up the road and on the way back, I stopped for gas.

While I was filling up, these two older Laides come up to the car and start giving it the once over.

The Older of the two comes up to me and says, "You know, this car looks like a big fish".

I smile and say, "how so"?
She comments that there are two big eyes,
(headlights) and a big Oval Mouth.
The other Pipes up and says, "well, I don't like it".

I tell her that it's a good thing she doesn't have to drive it every day.
The other is looking in through the drivers window and says, " That's pretty upolstry. Is it real leather or a cheap imitation"?

Can you believe, I didn't get the least bit nasty?
I say, "What do you think it is"?
She says that it might be leather and I say, "You might be right".

As they go to leave, the younger one says "you should put a nose or something on it".
(I think she meant a hood orniment)

I just thanked them for the constructive
criticizem and departed.

That's the strangest thing I've had happen in a long time.....wazup with some people?

I think that is one fine lookin' ride. I'm sure the Old ladies probably didn't like the fact that people change the things they grew up with. I guess in some way all of us are taking things and making them our own, and by this taking away something from past generations. Just idea anyway.

That is a beautiful car...even though it does kind of look like a fish :poke: Just kidding, car looks great, I've always loved that body style.

I once had two young punks pull up next to me in a parking lot, they explained to me how much the dislike customized muscle cars, but then complimented me on mine. You know, in some parts of the world, having an Oldsmobile called a fish has been a high compliment since the days of Ceasar. In fact, king Charles the Fifth once had a man beheaded for NOT calling the kings favorite Olds a fish! Really! :seizure:

Some guys don't like it when someone does ANYTHING to vettes.Hardcore Vette purists are much like Ferrari guys (they can be a bit anal and see any form of change to the cars a blasphemy).All I have to say to them is...if you don't like it,don't look :bicycle:

Your car looks awesome. Dont worry about what people say. Not everyone likes the same thing. Some hardcore chevy guys hate my car because I installed 4th gen interior. Some love it. Cant please everyone and I take the good with the bad. Again your car looks awesome!! That might easily be the nicest 58 Olds I have ever seen.

I had a guy come up to me one time and ask why I chopped my El Camino. Huh?!?!?!? I had all I could do to convince him it wasn't because his uncle had one, his uncle's uncle, his first cousin second removed, etc., so that made him an expert of course. It's all good fun.
