Hey Guys,

Does anyone know what the vent in the door jamb of the 68 and up Camaros is for?

The vents are for the "Astro Flow through Ventilation". The high pressure area at the base of the windshield was used to push fresh air through the car. The door vents exited the old "stale" air...

Not on A/C cars. The fresh air system relies on the dash control system for the fresh air routing.

And if memory serves, the factory installed door ducts only allow air to flow in one direction. I can't look at my car right now, but I thought that the only way air could flow on the door ducts was in. The repros do not have the one-way system.

The Body by Fisher Chassis Manual has a diagram of the air routing.

I remember reading somewhere that back by the sail panels and bottom of the quarter windows is under pressur and would create noise. Would that be to releise the pressure?

They could be to release pressure when you slam the trunk closed.

Thats a good question, Tony H. Mine was an A/C car and I have the vents. They've always been there but I never thought to question them.

Every 68 I've had has had them, all 5 of them

The airflow is restricted in inboard movement only. Trunk closing, etc. will cause the vents to close and restrict air movement.
