Anyone notice on the cover of the latest issue, in the lower left hand corner, it states something like "Make your Q-jet new again", but I don't see anything in the magazine at all on a Q-jet.
I know it's not pt related, but I was intested in seeing this as I've got a few of these things laying around.
Maybe I've sniffed the wrong fumes or something, and I just missed it. :lmao:

I will have to check that out.. that would be a big f'up if true.. you sure there are NO carb stories in the booK??
One thing they always stress in edit meetings is to deliver on the promise!

I don't think so. I didn't check my page count, so maybe my issue is missing a few pages or something. But no Q-jets in it what so ever, except on the '69 Camaro that is featured, lol.
Let me know what you find.

I still get it every month. It's not as good as when Jeff Smith was the Editor, but I still like it. I could do w/o the truck content in the back though.

I agree. McGonagal is gone so it can't help but get better. I don't know the guy personally, but I've never cared for his writing.

Think about big red as sort of a PT build. It now accelerates, handles and stops better than it did. All backed up by numbers. Isn't that what this is all about. They know car guys have trucks.

I had the same thought when McGonegal took Jeff Smith's place. Isn't Ro with PHR now?? I hope he doesn't have too much influence there, I'd hate to see PHR go the same route Chevy High did (only my opinion!)

Ro is a fantastic writer, I enjoyed reading his stuff. His style is a bit reminiscant though of a Peter Egan, not sure that fits in the Hot-rod world, but I do like reading his stuff. I just didn't care for the addition of the truck stuff, and some of the other editorial choices he made.

No..
Ro just does a "back in the day" freelancing column in the book.. sorta relates cool stories from.. well.. back in the day.. lol
He has no editorial input at all..

I know I'm digging into an old thread, but lets just say I have a vested interest in the subject. Ro McGonegal is a genius with words. In the car publication industry, there are few that paint a picture with the colors he has at his disposal. Was he the best editor for CHP? Perhaps not, but keep in mind that editors don't make choices all on their own, especially during his time. Publishers have influence on what gets published and advertisers have infuence with publishers. A lot of people didn't dig the truck stuff, except the guys with trucks. Scores of letters were received in favor of the subject matter, but alas the truck stuff is pretty much gone now. You'll see an occasional truck story here and there, but mostly because Chevy isn't producing anything new and the CHP guys have to have something to work on.
No magazine, whether its CHP or Hot Rod or Car Craft or Muscle Mustangs is ever going to please everyone. We focus on what we believe are the biggest and best trends and we go that direction, sometimes we try to forge a trend ourselves and sometimes that doesn't always work. The only way to do it is to try. CHP has a brand new look and new editor and a new outlook on content, but I'm sure someone on here is going to hate it. Doesn't mean we're going to stop doing what we do. On that note, I leave you with this thought from the master...
There might be room in the trunk for a couple of six-packs and some zucchini, but that’s it. - Ro McGonegal

Yes Ro is a master; of his own lingo. I have to interpret what he is trying to say by context more often than not.
