New Viking on board! :usa:

From Norway, Europe. Was a foreign exchange student in Kansas City, MO back in ’93-’94. So there the first day at track and field practice, my couch, after trying to pronounce my name, announced: “From now on in my classes your name is Olie !” Have since I first opened my eyes, a fall day in ’75, had a thing for American cars. Bought my first car in ’97, a 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser. The best car available for the money at hand. But with school and education as the number one priorities, it soon ended up as a rolling work sketch, held together by duct tape and strip ties! As soon as I finished my education and got a job, I bought a 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396, beautiful mist blue, with a four speed Muncie. Loved that car, but for some reason it was just TOO stock, and I didn’t have the money to change it into the pro-touring machine I knew it could be. Have always had a need to improve and customize things, so after about three years I sold it, started building my garage, and as soon as the roof was on, I started tearing down the old station wagon. The aim is a grocery getter that will accelerate, handle and stop like a sports car. There are many chassis I’d prefer over this one, but I still think this will be fun and more than anything: different !!:)

Awesome!!....I plan on putting a LS6 in my '79 Cutlass. Did you use any references on the net from people who previously installed LSx motors in G-Bodies? or just sort of go at it? Got any more pics? Let me know, can't wait to do the same on mine.

You ought to check out Marcus from SC&C's G-5 front susp. kit and he will soon have a G-5 rear kit. Which is pretty much the best you'll do on a g-body. I'm going to look into this too. Good Luck!

welcome to the board.....I like the way the car and the garage both show progress in most of those pics :)

Wow! Yes, SC&C's G-5 front susp. kit looks awesome!

When I first bought the car in '97 I thought a 350 TPI would be really cool some day. Since I was determened to swap the big and heavy '70 Buick 350 that was in it, with a small block 350, with fuelinjection of some sort, anything was basically an option. My only "demand" was to have somewhere between 300-350 hp. First thing that lead me towards an LS1 was reading John Bzdel's online dokumentary on it. And after that searching and reading everything I could find about LS1 swaps. So when it now finally became time to choose, starting from scratch, it was hard NOT to choose an LS1.

Have lots of pics, so just let me know if there's anything in particular you want. But from all the different ways to go, these were my choises:

8909

- Old style small block motor mounts, home made adapter plate, and stock Olds frame mounts:

- With the cost and trouble, getting a new oilpan over to this side of the atlantic, and with the car torn down anyways, I chose to notch the frame:

- I fabricated the frame rails so that I could make a straight transmission crossmember, and place it wherever I wanted when I had figured the position of the engine:

-I placed the engine as far back as the alternator let me, which ment I have to make room for the trans. dipstick in the firewall.

-I'll be using a Vintage Air heater, so the heater box/ coil bracket interferance will not be a problem for me.

-Not required to use the cats and air pump here so that's all removed, and made some extensions between the manifolds and the rest of the exhaust, to mount the O2 sensors in:
8910 8911

-I chose to make some room in the the floor for the dual exhaust, just to get it tucked away.
89078908

- I will use the stock fuel rails, and a '99-up Corvette fuel pressure regulator, an in-tank pump, and a custom fuel tank.

- Stock '01 Camaro, non-powersteering cooler, radiator hoses.

- Braided hoses for the transmission oil cooler.

Can't wait to start it up and see how it all works!!:drive:
