Just installed a set of Hooker long tube headers in my 1968 Camaro LS1 project this weekend. They fit great. If you are looking for a set of long tubes here are some pics that might help.

Do you have a shot of how low they hang underneath? Are they tucked up nice higher than the subframe?

I will get a shot of that soon. They hang about 1/2" below the subframe. They will have very good ground clearance.

Did you use the Hooker mounts and S&P notched oil pan?
They look good.

A great picture of the steering box area makes it look like thier would be no clearance issues.

Will they work with a Steeroids rack and pinion setup?

Are there O2 bung holes provided?

Great photos Terry, thanks for sharing. Can you check one more measurment for me? I would like to know how high or low the motor sits in the car. Maybe you can check from the top of the manifold to top of the firewall or something?

Thanks,
Ryan

From the top of the intake to the lip of the firewall is 4". There is more clearence between the subframe and the oil pan than SB350 had. Let me know if i can help.

The header come with collectors that have O2 bungs in them

It looks as if the collectors are the type you need to weld on as I don't see them on the end of the headers in your pictures. Is that correct?

No, they slip on the end of the header and reduce to 2 1/2". I did not have them on in the pics. You just use a band clamp style clamp or you could weld it if you like.

I used the 4L60E. I am very pleased with the fit. After installing different kinds of headers over the years in Camaro's I thought they fit better than any I had put in with a genI SB.

everyone seems to be concerned about how close the engine is to the firewall with the hooker mounts. when i look at my current gen1 engine in my 69 the lakewood bell is really close to the firewall. im not even sure if i could drop the bell in the car or not.

Cool,

i have the Hooker plates and Headers in their boxes in the garage and have yet to test fit. Glad to see the steering box fits this good (seems to have ample clearance) As i was under the impression i'd have to whack the ceramic a bit from another thread i read after buying!!! You make my day!

Lead.

Oh, i got the Moroso pan tough....

How did you mount the 60E? What corssmember did you use? did you have to fab anything up?

Thanks, Im in the middle of collecting all the installation parts to do an LSX swap. My dad said he'll buy me a motor once i finish the fire academy..........i think an LS7 is more fitting huh? lol

Besides the ATS headers, does anyone know of a 1 7/8" header that fits a first gen with LSX.

I used the Camaro TH400 cross member. I cut the mount pad off and welded on the oppisite side.
