I was just curious what you guys think of this lil piece...looks like a bit of a monster to me! Anybody got one yet?

I might have to try it out once I get everything else on my car out of the way...the small block motor mount provisions make the swap way too easy for me to not consider it.

This is the first I have heard of it... But that's cool

jump over to LS1tech.com there is quite a bit of info regarding that block under the LS2/LS7 section

Aside from all of the improvements they've made,I think one of the coolest things is the addition of provisions for 'early/traditional' side motor mounts

i agree.

What do you guys think the approximate cost to finish out one of these motors would be? I have no idea how expensive the new ls7 stuff is. Looks like the hawk block is right at $4000 and the hawk heads are about $2500, assembled. do you think it could be done for under 15k, pure parts cost?

From what I've seen the heads will go for:

64cc bare $799
64cc assembled (1.437" springs) $1,030
64cc assembled (1.550" springs) $1,134
72cc bare $799
72cc assembled (1.437" springs) $1,030
72cc assembled (1.550" springs) $1,134

those prices are per head.

I've got a 9.800" deck Warhawk LS7X block and a pair of bare 12* heads on order. Supposedly the heads will be here the end of this week or beginning of next and the block will be here a week later. The standard deck height LS7X blocks have already started shipping supposedly.

I'm going to build another twin turbo 427. My first twin turbo was a 1200hp pumpgas SBC 427 with a pair of 60-1's, I'm thinking of using something in the T-66 to T-70 range this time.

Are you crazy??? How much hp are we talking about? 1.5-1.7k?

Haha I wish I could fab stuff up like that... otherwise turbos are out of the question.

My first TT SBC 427 made 1200hp oj 92 octane, so I'd like to exceed that. I'm thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of 1200-1400hp on 92 octane.

Unfortunately, World Products is now saying the blocks and heads won't ship until May due to issues/delays with a previous production run unrelated to the Warhawk stuff.

Very few people can fab like that, I did myself, and I can tell you it is not easy, even for an experienced car builder. Every car and setup is different, Don't feel bad.

Also, if you only want 1000 hp, all you need is a stock block ls1 setup.:)

Stop teasing me bro. :getout: You're killing me. Or, rather, I would kill to have your setup. A few hundered less hp I'd eaven trade. Want to make me a kit :fingersx:

I won't build anyones kit. I just don't have the time. It takes time and patience, but if you do it yourself it can be "done dirt cheap"!

I hear you, I was just joking. I mean, I WOULD buy one... lol, but I can't do it myself. I really wish I could... I just don't have the fab skills.

I ordered a set of Merlin aluminum heads a while back from them and they took 9 months to deliver the goods.

As I Hear from the machine shop next door to me that world products Machine tolerances are for Sh@#t you will most likely have to Align hone, bore, deck, and everything else b4 you run it

he says hes never had a block yet from them thats not needed some machine work. He uses dart stuff

Thats also what Ive heard from Bob Lambeck and Brad Lagman from QMP

:yeah: Dart will be offering a BILLET LSx block to give another choice to those who look to the C5R blocks now. This new block will actually have more coolant capacity than the stock blocks & be nearly 7 times as strong. :woot:

The design of the Warhawk is intriguing but I'm waiting to see the quality of the castings and machining-- something World has always been lacking IMO. Their design intent has always been good but when it comes to the manufacturing side of it they fall short of the competition. I won't even go into the assembly tolerances on their crate motors, you could measure some with a tape measure...

For example, a friend just got in two new Merlin blocks that customers provided-- one had the lifter bores out .028" and the other was out .035". And to top it off they were all .010" oversize! They had to be moved and bushed. Last year he got in several MoTown blocks with cam bearing bores both too big and out of round. These are not uncommon experiences for anyone who works with World stuff, I've never heard of one not needing some "unexpected" machine work-- and the more you dimensionally check them the more work you find you need to do.

The new Dart block sounds very interesting too.

 ..... and just how hard could it be to alter the CNC program to carve out a V12 block ........:drive2:
