I deleted my origonal post, so disregaurd the first reply.

What i did was ripped out all my old wiring because of how hacked it was and am re doing everything however i have very little experience with wiring so bear with me here.

Here are my questions,

1. Where on the alt does the wire from the light harness mount?

2. I was under the impression that the batterey cable goes to the starter solenoid, so according to this there would be 3 wires going to the starter.

3.will a strap to the body and a batterey cable to the chassis be enough grounding for all the stuff.

4. The speartech harness comes with 4 teeny leads for the electric fan, pos and neg of high and low speed i think, however are a extremely small gauge so how do i set them up (i have a power feed for the fan with the aaw kit so that is not an issue, and i have not purchased a fan relay yet as i have no clue what to get, any advice?

5. Can i just snip the wires for the things im not using, such as all the stock gauge senders and some other junk.

Thats all ive got now but im sure ill have more, and once more a plea for any local people who could help with the wiring, and if we get it done and it runs without the wiring melting ill let the helper DRIVE IT!!! (nobody ever has gotten to, not even my best friend who let me drive his m3, z06, and viper!)

Here is the wiring diagram for the ls1 harness, unfortunately it must be of a different year because it is quite different than mine.... and it does not show how to wire it.

the small purple wire with the eyelet connector goes to the small terminal on the starter, make sure the other end goes to the ign switch in the crank position. iwould not worry about the other purple wire with the weatherpack connector unless the car does not crank. i would test it after the car is running to see when it is poered up and make sure that it does not short out later on.

2. I have 3 wires going to the starter. Small purple cranks the little (bendix) motor, is the "turn on" wire.. I've got my 4 gauge from battery straight to the starter. My 3rd goes from the starter to the power distribution block, is an 8gauge.

3. plenty for me.

4. you have to use relays. Run a thick (8 or 10g) positive wire to the correct terminal on the relay, and a ground to its terminal. that will make the relay ready to use. Your thin wire is the turn-on wire, it goes to the "switching source" terminal on the relay. the final terminal goes to the fan, and will send the full current of the 8/10g wire to it. Hope that makes sense. I'll see if I can find an illustration. 30amp relays should do the trick, available from any auto store.

5. I removed the wires, including their pins, to avoid shorts, "hack job" look.

good luck brian..

I have a similar problem in that all I get is a clicking noise when I touch the purple wire to power. I have the MAD Electrical set-up with a solenoid in the back. I had the car running before I moved the battery to the back, but now I can't get it turned over.
I have a 2 ga. wire going from the solenoid in the back to the starter. I also have the little wire(purple) hooked up. THe ignition wire from the harness powers everything (fuel pump, computer) when it is connected to the distribution block. What am I doing wrong?

guys with the battery in the back , I do this and have no problems.

first off , 1 ot cable minimum
ground frm the battery the whole way to the engine, ground from battery to rear frame.

My grounds are good. I have the engine grounded to the frame and the battery grounded to the frame in the back.

mine did the same thing.. i got a better battery and it turned over real well.. I thought my optima redtop was fine, but it wasnt.. all i got was the bendix clicking. try charging the battery.. for the person who said at least 1/0... i've got 4 gauge and its plenty. /end hijacking brian's post.

i solved one problem in that i mounted the remote solenoid inside a Carlon PLASTIC gang box = NO GROUND. Now I have to run a jumper wire on the starter up front but the directions from MAD Electrical say not to do that. I tried calling him but of course it was busy.

my stereo system requires 4 gauge , some day that 4 gauge will cause you problems
