Does anyone know if you have to do any surgery on the stock gauge pod in order to install the 5" Autometer speedometer and tach in a '68 Camaro?

I just installed the 5 inch tach and speedo into my dash. They fit pretty good as is. But I unfortunately have an older style bezel on the speedo and a new "super" bezel on the tach. The speedo fits much better than the new style does. There is a small gap at the bottom but you will not see it once installed. Good luck

I had to roll the lip of the gauge retainer in order to drop the gauges in. THat with some #4 sheet metal screws (to grip the plastic) and some 1/4" aluminum spacers from Home Depot got 'er done.

My 5'' Ultra-Lites just dropped right in from what I can remember.

Actually, I think you 69 boys have the best looking dash layouts. the aftermarket dashes with AutoMter gauges IMO are AWESOME! I've got a friend of mine whose got his '69 stashed in my shop right now, and I'm trying to convince him to put the aftermarket dash panel and gauges in it.
