I have a 99 vortec 454/2wd 4l80e that I want to install in my winter toy 91 k5 Jimmy 4x4. Does anyone know if I can go to Chevy for the piece that goes between the trans and the tranfer case? The T-case is an NP241. I know I will need to have the output shaft swapped.
Has anyone done anything like this?

Im not aware of any GM xfer case to trans adaptor that will bolt that xfer case to an 80E. There are a hand full of companies that offer conversion kits from a Th350/700R4 to an TH400 which is the same as the 80E as far as the components you need (output shaft/tail housing bolt pattern, etc).

Heres one that Im aware of and Im sure Advanced Adaptors has something as well.

I put a 4l80e behind a 205 t-case. took minor machining to get the register ring to seat on the gm adapter. upgrade to the 205 case much better unit.

I agree that the 205 is a much better T case, what I would aso sugjest is that you look up advanced adapters because I would almost bet cash money that they make the piece you need to addapt the 2 and it would be a bolt in. Good luck with the blazer, sounds like it will be a nice rig. I actually have a 89 myself, I love the things.

I appreciate the advice. I think I will stay with the 241 for now. I don't do any rock crawling, nor will I put bigger than 33" tires on the truck, so I don't think I need the stronger cast iron 205.

I don't see any 241 to 4l80e adapters on advance's web site, but I think the late model trucks had 4l80es and 241s.
